After many years as a staunch fence-sitter/political neutral, I voted in two previous political leadership races. The first was the 2020 Green leadership race. I was excited to support a candidate, and was then horrified to find out he was a Russian propagandist claiming to be a ‘anti-imperialist’. You can figure out who that is on your own lol. Have fun :)
The second leadership race I participated in was the BC NDP race that pitted David Eby against Anjali Appadurai.
She was treated horribly, and I would say with fear, by the BC NDP leadership. She could have been a sea change in real social progressive leadership in BC and Canada but was pushed out.

Imagine in what kind of "great atmosphere" the negotiations between the US and Iran will take place. I tuck these things away in my brain, and they sit there gnawing on my sanity, like little RFK worms.

The fact that Paul Graham personally has billions of dollars at stake with OpenAI doesn’t mean that his public opinion on Sam Altman’s trustworthiness and leadership is invalid. In all seriousness, there are a ton of possible scenarios. The Iranian regime is weaker than it has ever been. I deeply hope for the liberation of Iranian people, especially oppressed minorities. Meanwhile, the US is lead by the most incompetent leadership ever (which is really saying a lot).
The Kurds, who could be the keystone ground forces needed to collapse the regime have been betrayed by the US so many times that they may not rise up (correctly) predicting that the US will stab them in the back at the fist chance.
But they are also a highly oppressed group in Iran, and may well take this opportunity. I don't know enough about this region to make any kind of reasonable prediction.
There are a huge number of unknowns, which is really *not* what anyone wants when starting a conflict.
To Iranian people, I wish you freedom and self-determination against all actors. To the US military, I wish you the best of luck getting your whole behive-dick situation.
