Part of the problem of selling a show or movie to CBS or Paramount or Skydance, or booking an acting role on a project of theirs is purely business.
If potus decides he doesn’t like a project, CEOs George Cheeks, Brian Robbins & David Ellison will kill the project regardless of how well it does. They did just now to Colbert & The Late Show (number 1 in its time slot).
Why start business w/them that hurts others & will hurt you the moment they feel like it.

i was put in charge of three grandchildren for a few hours yesterday so we headed straight to ben & jerry's to split a milkshake, then explored the state theater (and even sneaked into a movie but later got thrown out for horsing around on the escalator), then i gave a nickel tour of angell/mason/haven halls, then they chased squirrels on the diag which took longer than you might think, then we looked in all the windows in nickels arcade. it all went slowly and well.

A four-, five-, and a six-year old are seated in a booth with a bright orange tabletop in front of a purple each with a small cup containing vanilla milkshake. They're eating with straws and spoons. So far, it is not a messy disaster.

This is a cheerful photo of three children enjoying milkshakes at a restaurant booth. The setting is a classic ice cream parlor with its distinctive blue and yellow booth seating and black-and-white checkered floor.

This photo shows three children sitting together on a wooden bench in a public building. The setting has large windows in the background showing green grass and trees outside, with some chairs and bicycles visible through the glass.

Totoro spoilers
Re the quoted post from @…:
The very first time I saw My Neighbor Totoro, it was because a friend cajoled me into attending the student anime club’s showing with absolutely no context whatsoever except “you •have• to see this movie, Paul.” I had no idea what genre it was. I had no idea that it was a movie considered suitable for kids. The last anime I’d seen was IIRC Ghost in the Shell; I was ready for anything.
When Mei went missing, I thought, “omg, is this a tragedy? I think this story is a tragedy!” The whole time they were looking for her, I was absolutely terrified. I thought for sure they’d found her sandal. I still tear up when they find her now, on every rewatching.
I’m so glad for that first viewing. It’s a much better movie that way. When you’re expecting an innocent movie about cute forest plushies, you see that. But when you see that it could be a tragedy — the mother’s shadowy illness, the lost child — it hits hard. wandering.shop/@Violinknitter/

The original Jurassic Park flick was released in U.S. theaters today (June 11) in 1993. I was 13 at the time, and had actually read Crichton's book. I was psyched to see Jurassic Park in the theater, which I did, with my family. I loved it- it was wild. I was intrigued by dinosaurs then, and still am. But this was and still is the only JP movie I've seen- I never saw any of the sequels.

Just finished reading Dream State by Eric Puchner, and it kind of pissed me off. I think I can see exactly why it might be popular with a certain WASPy liberal "literati" type that probably includes a lot of influential reviewers, but to me, it's points about love & life, despite being much more complex, ring just about as hollow (and harmful) as a Disney movie.
I've got a lot of quibbles, but I think most galling to me was a throwaway line near the beginning about why platonic relationships get so much less glory in media than romantic ones, when so much of the plot proceeds to revolve around a stale agency-free romantic attraction model that's certainly more complex on its face than a Disney romance but which is ultimately just as misleading.
Go read Loveless or really any YA #OwnVoices romance (especially queer) and you'll be learning more & better lessons about the human condition.

When will the FBI release the documents that prove Stanley Kubrick is a time traveler who came forward in time to 2023 for movie ideas and after seeing the Barbie movie decided to make a whole movie based on the opening sequence.

ALYSSA MILANO 8X10 GLOSSY PHOTO IMAGE #2

The image features a woman with shoulder-length, wavy brown hair, styled with highlights. She is wearing a green, semi-sheer dress with a low neckline and long sleeves, which has a gathered texture at the bust area. The dress appears to be made of a lightweight, flowing fabric. Her makeup includes bold red lipstick, defined eyebrows, and smoky eye makeup with gold eyeshadow. The background is dark and features a blurred image, possibly of a movie poster or event backdrop. The woman is smiling a…

What a difference a day makes? Times gives Superman 2/5 then gives it 5/5.
(The Times and The Sunday Times are different in terms of editorial, but from a web perspective it looks like they changed their mind.)

Apple News showing two reviews of Superman (2025) with the titles "this migraine of a movie is superhero soup" "and it's my five-star
movie of the summer".

I watched the Disney, two season, series on the risk of Industrial Light and Magic (ILM).
It was interesting.
And last night I watched a Studio Ghibli film.
I am active in live theatre - living actors on a stage before a live audience.
It struck me that movie making a la ILM tends to glorify the scenery without necessarily adding to the impact of the story.
I can understand how filmmakers want to immerse the audience in a different reality. But I don't thin…

Genndy Tartakovsky's developing a new show 'Heist Safari' that looks pretty great. Loved what he did with Dexter's Lab. This one's about three estranged frog brothers who meet up at their dad's funeral, have to rob a bank to inherit their late dad's fortune, and have issues when they cut side deals with mobsters. Every episode will be executed as just one shot, the events won't be in chronological order, and it'll have an EDM score. Looks & sounds prom…

Promo shot for upcoming adult swim show in production 'Safari Heist' showing three cartoon frogs with masks and guns, in color, and one of them is yelling. They're in the center of a bunch of other confused, scared animals, all in brown tones.

Hi hi!! I really need some #MutualAid!!
I’m trying to find the full 45-minute documentary “The Anarchist Rabbi” (2014) by Adam Kossoff.
This movie is a documentary about Rudolf Rocker, a German anarchist who worked with Jewish migrants in London’s East End, and it’s narrated by Steven Berkoff.
Here’s the movie on IMDb and similar websites:
- IMDb:

A middle-aged man stands alone in a studio setting with a muted backdrop. He wears a formal suit and tie, typical of his era. His expression is neutral, and the composition directs attention solely to him. The photograph is of Rudolf Rocker, a prominent German anarchist writer and activist.
