The first half of 2026 was the 5th warmest on record here in the central Netherlands.
Just following the forecast for the coming 2 weeks, and then the 1991-2020 average (cool by now) would already bring this year into the top-3 warmest since 1901.

Between 2020 and 2024, no cervical cancer deaths were recorded in women aged 20 to 24
- the first time that had happened over a five-year period.
Without vaccination, around 23 deaths would have been expected.

Got my power bill for May. Net consumption was 2.73 MWh, an all-time low by a signficant margin (3.3 MWh in April 2026, and 3.77 MWh in July 2024, are the previous records).
The final bill after taxes and fees was $595, not *quite* an all time low (I paid $582 in July 2024) but that was for 3.7 MWh and I'm now paying almost as much for 2.7 - yay rate increases. If I can generate a touch more solar in June I might break the all-time low though.
