Interesting thing about tomorrow's tarot show, rendering now, is that I upgraded from Blender 4.0 to blender 4.4 and it's quite a bit nicer to look at the timeline editor.
Was sad to find that the render time was up though. From about 3 seconds per frame usually to more like 12!?
Trying it with an old version I see that the lights and textures look way better with 4.4 than 4.0 though. A substantial step up in the way the show looks without me even doing anything other than waiting four times longer per frame.
Seems to be heavily dependent upon lighting now. The slow frames are like 12 seconds but the fast frames with minimal lighting and close up on the video are more like 2.
Looks too beautiful now to go back though. Upgraded my cloud-remote render machines too. We will render on four machines tonight. FOUR! The power of it all.
g3.4xlarge is no faster than g3.large but g6.xlarge seems to be twice the speed.
But hard to be sure really coz of the massive variance in time depending on the lighting.
Anyway, great show coming tomorrow. Sometimes I wonder what the hell I'm trying to do with it but tomorrow's show is the answer. Hide the angry bitter political rant behind a strange CGI tarot show. When the rant comes together well I like it.

So there's this new "#eDoręczenia" (~ "eDelivery") system that's supposed to replace the previous "ePUAP" system for exchanging signed messages between citizens and offices. I've finally had the opportunity of testing it today, and I have to say, it's magic.
So I wrote the message, attached the ~300 KiB attachment and clicked "Send". Now a status bar appeared on top, saying (in translation):
> Sending message, it can take up to 20 minutes!
Roughly two minutes later the status bar disappeared and I got a blank new message form. So I go into "sent", nothing there. I go into "drafts", there's my message, apparently listed with "delivery data". I click it, click "send" again — the same bar appears, but after a few seconds I'm back to the list. I click "sent", it's finally sent. Magic!

Claude Sonnet 4.0 describes the image as: "This image shows a scene set within what appears to be a spacecraft interior, characterized by the distinctive futuristic design elements typical of science fiction television from the late 1970s. The setting features curved metallic walls with circular details and technological panels, creating an appropriately sterile and advanced atmosphere.

The person in the scene is wearing a black leather outfit that has a sleek, military-style appearance fittin…

This chainsaw might be older than me. Today, it decided it just didn't want to work. Even a little starter fluid wouldn't do anything. No sputter, no start and stall, just nothing. I ended up using a little electric one with difficulty when this guy would have been done in seconds.

A Sachs Dolmar chainsaw. And my foot.

Canonical is evil.
If I wanted to use nano, I suppose I might run something like "nanosudo"
BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT I RAN.
It only took me about 30 seconds of flailing before I noticed the garbage at the bottom of the screen.

Got lots of chores done yesterday, spent this morning processing some video backlog, came across what has to be the cleanest "prepared reaction time" measurement I've got. Lest anyone driving wonder, those people on bikes that do it every day and know their traffic and know their route, they have good reaction time, 0.6 seconds from semi-surprise signal to actually decelerating the bicycle.

Truck in Ontario CA “Rolls Coal” (blows burning oil/fuel out of an illegal modification to their exhaust system)
A saga in 48 seconds, watch to the end
#California #LosAngelesProtests

Video shows a group of protestors standing on a busy street corner. They have a hybrid US/Mexican flag when a huge black f350 pickup truck approaches and belches black smoke out of its exhausts at the protesters.
Cut to black truck coming other direction, and again belches smoke.
As the truck drives away you see 5 police cruisers in hot pursuit
Final clip shows the huge truck comping by one more time, this time on the back of a flatbed Tow vehicle, having been impounded/seized by the Californi…

How different the world looks within split seconds sometimes, just from a slight breath of wind in the leaves or a flick of the wrist! Here exemplified by one of last year's corn flowers.
#photography #bloomScrolling

a blurry horizontal format closeup of a light blue cornflower mostly in shadow but hit by a ray of sunlight from behind. the background consists of various out of focus green foliage
an almost identical view to the previous image, but the sunlight is hitting the cornflower a bit differently, and the image is less blurry
again the same cornflower, seen from a similar angle as before, but the light hitting it slightly different

Hours of hiking at high elevation is the best complement/remedy for hours of coding... Last Saturday we were on the mountain for 9 hours (21km hike), and here's a short POV video from near the highest point, near the pass into Rappenalptal, 900m above the valley... It was a beautiful varied path through many different terrains with some exposed sections and grand vistas, even though the last part of the 1400m descent wasn't anything fun...
Also, between 20 and 30 seconds, the …

50 second POV video of a person walking on a narrow high alpine path, looking into the beautiful deep valley below and the tall mountains on the opposite side, with steep green slopes and rocky cliffs. Next to the path is a standalone, tooth-shaped rock, in perpendicular orientation to the main slope & path direction.

Series B, Episode 05 - Pressure Point
AVON: If I can fire at ground level, the beam radiation should be great enough to cut a narrow channel through the sensor mesh. That would give you eight seconds to get from here to the blockhouse. The mesh would start its repair cycle instantly. Take one step off the channel and you're dead. I know it's a slim chance, but it's the best I can come up with.
BLAKE: Let's try it.
