Aggregation of vortex structures in 2D: the blob-wave system and its role in zonal flows
We give a rigorous mathematical result, supported by accurate numerical simulations, of the aggregation of a concentrated vortex blob with an underlying non constant vorticity field: the blob moves in the direction of the gradient of the field. It is a unique example of Lagrangian explanation of aggregation of vortex structures of the same sign in 2D inviscid fluids. There is an open letter on BlueSky moderation practices as they apply to Gazans which I was invited to sign.
I have been feeling pretty helpless so I read the letter. It was very balanced and reasonable. The asks are not- as I saw them being misrepresented as immediately- to allow anyone who says they are in Gaza to post anything.

Yesterday I went to a mad scientist meet up.
Unfortunately, while I did have a sign, before heading out, I realized it was unreadable without shade. The location was a large plaza at noon. So in the end, I had nothing more than my presence.
I expect there will be similar events in the future that I will feel obliged to attend. I'm considering getting some "outdoor" (1/4 or 1/8 scan) HUB75 style displays, or maybe a grid of multiple epaper displays?

~2 weeks ago, I got an unsolicited email that someone was trying to log into my Roblox account, which was created in 2008 and I think never used since. I just finished the account deletion process which involved contacting support, doing identity verification (which was certainly not used to sign up way back then!) and going back forth a few times. Kind of crazy, especially for an account which never had any sort of payment info attached to it.
