turn of the century chinafakes are something else

A chinafake toy gun that resembles Harry Potter on a broomstick with an owl. One of his hands is pointing at something, and is very large and made out of translucent green plastic with an LED inside. The whole thing is very off-looking, has a weird paint job, and Harry's face is that of an eldritch horror. The whole toy is covered in minor damage from wear (scratches, paint worn down, etc) and small amounts of grime and dirt here and there, presumably from storage.

IMHO: #BlueSky isn't decentralised or federated. The outage on 2024-11-14 is obvious proof. It may *look* decentralised and they definitely love to outsource traffic/storage costs by claiming that running your own PDS (Personal Data Server) is somehow something federated, but that's all smoke and mirrors. You have to go deep on [1] to find "networking through Relays instead of server-to-server" as their current implementation choice. THEY run the relays. No one else. [1] https://bsky.social/ab…

After discussing the possibility for several months, European nations are finally forming a unified barrier of insurance checks and enforcement around areas where Russia's shadow fleet operate... a very important development, as it either will deprive them from the ability to keep evading sanctions, or significantly increase the costs and risks of doing so.
Big ramifications. This could have a major impact on Russia's recent long term oil delivery deal with India, i.e.

Twelve European countries to jointly counter Russia's shadow fleet exporting oil
Twelve European countries have agreed to jointly counter the shadow fleet used by Russia to export oil, bypassing the G7-imposed price cap. Ships will now be checked for valid insurance documents.

Drawing attention to this thread of comments of mine from a few days ago, as it goes deeper into apparent efforts from European nations to Trump-proof Ukraine, which is actually VERY important for European security.
It's nice seeing news articles pointing out Ukrainian funding & Russian appeasement isn't something Trump gets to dictate, but rather, a situation where Europe is trying to diplomatically push back against Trump to defend their legitimate security interests.
