So, Gableman's argument is that if he isn't allowed to pick which judges hear his case, it is a violation of due process? I don't think that is the way the law is meant to work.

My father works at a government research facility, and some years ago,
when I was a little boy I asked him how many people worked out there.
He replied (of course): ``Oh, about half.''

Everything here is built for one type of weather.
And most of the time it works.
But when it doesn’t, it really doesn’t work.
L.A. has spent over a century advertising its perfect Mediterranean climate.
Now increasingly frequent severe weather events are triggering citywide soul-searching about who deserves protection,
what neighborhoods get resources,
which elected officials are to blame,
and whether the promise of this place still holds.

Paraphrase of my #IOT hardware rant on slack (unsurprising, since I maintain github.com/unixorn/internet-of)
In a perfect world IOT hardware companies should:
- Have to escrow the firmware. And escrow the source code, not just the binary blob
- The firmware isn't allowed to use binary blobs as device drivers. Chip manufacturers will have to suck it up and document their chips or hardware companies won't be able to use them
- Have to escrow any keys required to update the firmware
- To be sold, have to have a local API, with at a minimum, functionality to update the firmware once the hardware company stops support. No "You have to use our crapware that only works on a phone/computer OS two major versions old, and it has to download firmware from our servers that got turned off when we went out of business / dropped the product's support
- Eighteen months with no updates causes release of the escrowed firmware and update keys. There are bound to be at least some security updates required in that time
- Have to have clearly labeled pads on the board for updating firmware and running diagnostics.
- Not be allowed to lock consumers out of reflashing the firmware. If someone flashes custom firmware before the escrowed firmware is released, and the custom firmware bricks the device, that's on the person who reflashed it, not the company.

I have owned my 2016 EV since 2020. (I like buying my cars four and a half years old because four years is the length of a typical lease and when supply goes up, price goes down). I like the fact that (because it's an EV), beyond tire rotations, it's only been in the shop once. That one time, was due to the fact that the start button got stuck in and wouldn't come out again. The car is nearing ten years old, and I think that I might need to take it to the shop for new tires. ...

I just got an email from a GitHub issue saying ...
So... our backlog of brand requests has reached a point where even we can't pretend we're keeping up. Some of these issues were opened before I had gray hair. And I've had gray hair for a LONG time. On top of that, treating requests as issues has always made it way too hard to see the forest for the trees.
To fix this, we are now managing all brand requests in GitHub Discussions.
... Fair enough, I guess.

I'm spending my lunch break watching the new Colin Furze video where he replaces the springs on his bicycle with magnets.

Taking the dog outside to use the bathroom, I found a pile of dog poop frozen to the concrete.

I wonder if you could pay for an international vacation by smuggling a ram into the united states. 🤔

I really liked the movie Edge of Tomorrow. I am pretty sure that the manga that this is based on is the basis of that movie.

The health tracking app says that I'm not getting enough antioxidants, so I'm trying to rectify that.
