wild kubuntu seem to have the nextcloud desktop app in the "store" regular ubuntu did not.
I had to run:
sudo apt install nextcloud-desktop
the nextcloud website has you download some appImage file that I have no idea how to use.
also nextcloud on kubuntu was slow as ass. settings pane took 30 seconds to open.

Seems like both my iPad-with-pencil input apps have been bought by other companies so that’s probably Not Good (TM) Does anyone have recommendations for either handwriting input or sketchnoting ipad apps that are one-time payment and don’t require internet connection at all times? Bonus points for supporting NextCloud for sync!

Is there some setting in #Nextcloud that would cease posting these tagging messages? As evident in the image below, while occasionally useful, most often, by a large margin, the tags are hilariously inaccurate (a tuning note A is 'rap') but as I have thousands of photos and audio files, the constant stream of these renders notifications useless,

Stel, ik ga serieus nextcloud selfhosten thuis, dan wordt de betrouwbaarheid wel belangrijk. Zou een nas met raid5 externe backup op stackstorage.com voldoende zijn?
Heeft iemand ervaring met self hosting thuis?
Ik denk tenminste dat ik het thuis wil, want het wordt vast heel duur om dit extern te hosten

So we tried #nextcloud talk yesterday with friends and it was AMAZING. I first struggled with sound in-out but that was clearly my setup with external speakers and external camera. (really not the typical setup!)
But the 2h video call went totally smooth, good quality, no lag.
If you do videocalls with friends and family.. I can totally recommend nextcloud call - in my case hosted…

Huh, think I might've figured out why one (but only one) of my NextCloud instances loses contact with the OnlyOffice instance on the same host... Figured out it *might* be because of frequent polling that's resulted in the Mailcow instance (also on the host, as I'm trying to economise) is seeing it as making too many connections and is temporarily fail2banning it nightly. I've added the host's IP(v4&6) to the Fail2Ban whitelist... 🤞 it's still connected tomorrow!<…

I just opened my Nextcloud to remove some old Signal Backups and it felt so snappy. 3s compared to more than 15s I had to experience the last months!
It is such a joy to use it and I don't know why it works now, maybe it was the last update, but it works!!!

Habe mal die #Cookbook App für #Nextcloud ausprobiert. Funktioniert gut. Werde ich denke ich mal ein paar Rezepte improtieren bzw. einpflegen. Nur die Synchronisation von der Android App ist etwas hakelig. Da werde ich besser die Rezepte besser im Browser importieren.

I am pretty anti-snap for most software, but a snap has turned out to be the most reliable and lowest-effort way for me to run Nextcloud over the last three years. I always ran into issues with running the official release, especially when php-fpm versions changed on Debian. The snap has so far just done its thing in the background, and the only way I know it's been updated is a notification in the admin console. Pretty cool!
