Didn't even have to do anything and a 100 MHz refclk (no spread spectrum, it looks pretty stable) magically appeared on the connector. I'm not sure which side is sourcing it (can an addin card generate REFCLK?) because I didn't do anything to configure PCIe on the host side yet.

So the app doesn't matter. The browser doesn't matter. The account or any legacy cruft doesn't matter.
Does this leave as the only explanation that perhaps Google no longer provides OAuth2 tokens? Surely that would be all over the news if true, but I'm running out of local culprits. Also Emacs inability to authenticate Mastodon suggests its neither google nor Debian per se? Maybe I should spend my time more productively slamming a car door on my fingers?
I have a dread feeling wiping the laptop and carefully reinstalling from scratch will not work.

But their wi-fi intercepts TLS connections and substitutes its own certificate. Bad, bad, bad. At least my tools noticed it and said "we ain't gonna get fooled".
However, this happened in Thunderbird (e-mail tool) which popped up an utterly obscure dialog to tell me and ask what I wanted to do.

I'm paying for this service, because it used to be good, I never asked for an AI chat. I can go to ChatGPT, or Google, which used to be a search engine and is now an AI chat with a worse version of the search engine attached. Not that I'd want any of that.

I've got my home computers running backups to the NAS and most of the Macs also have Time Machine drives attached...
At this point I'm still missing off-site backups but I can look into that by placing a small NAS at the office.
