So, tonight's goal is to continue with ngscopeclient performance work.
I started out by doubling the speed of the eye pattern *again* by moving index buffer calculation from CPU to GPU.
Next up is going to be getting the 100baseTX decoder to not be so slow. Right now of the 43 seconds of CPU time in the current 1-minute benchmark, 26.9 is spent sampling the MLT-3 waveform on rising edges of the recovered clock.

Our Christmas tree didn't drink water this year. It's been pretty much dead for the past 2 weeks. Every time you get near it, needles fall off. It's been quite a mess.
Today was the day it came down. I really wasn't looking forward to having to pick needles out of everything we own between the living room and the door for the next year, so… I went Full Dexter on it. (And it actually worked.)

I found a stash of mechanics and handicraft magazines from 1936-1949 - just 4 magazines. Heck some are scary 🙂

Abschleppen war problemlos. Bis zu einem Park-and-Ride-Parkplatz. Dort hatte der laufende Motor die Batterie bereits soviel mit Strom versorgt, dass wieder geschaltet wurde.

After undergoing the ritual debate of Coopers Hawk or Sharp Shinned Hawk, we’ve unanimously decided this is a Coopers Hawk that swooped down in pursuit of a small bird hiding in a holly bush.
After playing it cool in this nearby tree, the hawk tried diving into the bush (ouch!), landing & coming up from underneath, but could not reach nor flush out its prey.

Back and leg pain was terrible from around 4am to 11am but I managed to get moving after that and doing some kitchen work helps distract me from the pain... I still feel a little dizzy, but whatever.
So I am attempting a "tavern style" pizza today, the "other" Chicago style, a thin, cracker crust. (Also St. Louis or Milwaukee style to some folks.)
I'll report back on my results after lunch, unless I fall asleep again from the medication.

Gartenarbeit im Januar heißt bei mir Werkzeugpflege. Meist schaff ich es im Herbst nur mal grob abzubürsten oder ich vergess es gleich ganz. Die Strafe ist dann Rost.

Last evening of Christmas vacation before getting back to work for the new year.
Aiming to make it a good one. Working on GPU acceleration of the TIE filter and maybe the histogram block so I can do jitter analysis faster.

Percolating downwards, the extra water eventually found its way into a major fault zone that slices through the 12km-long (7-mile) Mont Blanc Road Tunnel, lubricating it and causing it to shift sufficiently to trigger a burst of low-level seismic activity.

The occurrence of small tremors has since remained elevated, substantially hiking the risk of bigger quakes in the future.

En weer een feature aan mijn fietsje: Een Hoofdsteun aan de luie stoel. Dat was eerst niet zo nodig, maar inmiddels staat de stoel op maximale luiheid. Daardoor lig ik veel steviger op de fiets, wat heel fijn is, maar moet ik mijn oude hoofd meer omhoog houden, en daar kan ik wel een beetje steun bij gebruiken.
Zoals de montage-instructies aangeven steunt hij mijn schedel en niet alleen mijn nek en zit hij laag genoeg om mijn eventuele helm nèt vrij te laten.

Another SAR training weekend coming up.
