Back in 2022, after #StormArwen, I rolled up a section of the fence around my wood so that I could haul fallen timber out of the south end of my wood. There's still a lot of fallen timber there, but I think I have hauled out as much as I practically can. So today I decided to get the fence back up.
Of course, brambles had grown through the rolled up fence, so it was far beyond my stre…

Starting the unroll. The winch line from the tractor is taken through a turning block at the farm gateway, and hooked into the roll. There's a mess of fallen timber in the foreground, which will be outside the fence once it is back up, and which is destined to become firewood.

Behind, the wood is still a mess, but the young oak trees along the edge of it are just coming into leaf.

(This picture is accidentally on its side, my apologies) Starting the unroll. The rolled fence has been pulled clear of the weeds, and is unrolling under the branches of the oak trees.

The fence more or less fully unrolled along the edge of the wood. Some of the fence posts are broken and will need to be replaced.

Heute zum Ende der #Veloferien nochmal #rausgeschafft, allerdings mit Mr. #Winterbrompton (mit Sommerpneu, Conti Urban Contact), da gestern kurz vor Ende der

Ein orange-schwarzes Brompton mit altem P-Lenker, großem Kettenblatt und schwarzer Fronttasche lehnt an einem Maschendrahtzaun auf einer Wiese. Von hinter dem Zaun schaut eine wollige Ziege ohne Hörner (oder vielleicht doch ein hellbraunes Schaf?) in die Kamera.

I wouldn't used to post about such activities, because obviously it can come across a certain way - but I stumbled on these old photos of a Grace Jones gig setup - and thought maybe people would find it interesting.
The idea was to do a one-off very different sound, and we stripped down some of her classics. My "station" is in the first photo, her son played percussion, Dave Okumu guitar, and Ivor handled the bass (see Moog lol) and was also triggering other samples.

Went to Manifest in Hyattsville last night. Everything was excellent, but the chocolate cake was next level.

Just started an overhaul of my second lab rack focused on making it more useful and maybe saving a bit of power.
First step: shutting down Octavius (named after Doc Ock), the lone 2U server on the rack. I added a 10m active usb 2.0 cable and powered hub and now the AC701 is connected via usb passthrough to a VM on the Xen server.
At some point I'll probably unrack it to reclaim the space but for now it's just sitting there taking up space.
Also rearranged some rack …

War etwas nachlässig mit posten, deswegen heute ein dreifaches #rausgeschafft für drei #Radtouren entlang des Hochrheins, jedesmal ein anderes Teilstück und jedesmal Anreise von zuhause mit der Ente: Einmal ein Rundkurs zwischen Kadelburg,

Eine gemauerte Spitzbogenbrücke, durch die ein Flüsschen fließt. Rundherum lichter, bis auf Efeu und ein paar Nadelbäume im Hintergrund kahler Wald, im Vordergrund ein gefällter, morscher Baum und Traktorspuren im braunen Erdreich.

I am addicted to rewriting these UIs in SwiftUI.
Next victim, the AnimationStateMachine.
The main driver was just killing the select/add/connect modal system, that feels like using VI on a UI - but while I was working on it, decided to tune up a little the UI.
