Nine PBS is afraid that it will lose over 70 years of archival materials and programming
after its contracted cloud storage vendor has apparently gone out of business.
According to Current, the channel used Open Source Storage, or OSS, for storing over 50TB of data

Nine PBS has been working with OSS and its predecessor since 2019 and intended to renew its contract on March 6 of this year.

Lately I've noticed that Phanpy really makes chromium burn a lot of CPU. That could be chromium's fault (don't get me started..), but I suspect it's because Phanpy is using (P)React, which is a whole lot of javascript. I've gone back to Elk for the time being, and it's night-and-day. Unfortunately Elk is definitely rougher around the edges, but it also uses much less CPU on my laptop.

Last year I posted about the anti-EU posters hanging all over Budapest. This year they're gone, and instead there are noticeably more EU flags. Great city, this Budapest!

"Just as with climate breakdown and smoking, the science on harm caused by foods high in fat, salt and sugar is now settled, but the industry continues to deny and distract to delay action. Two weeks ago, a new report highlighted the lengths to which big food has gone to stop governments implementing policies that would tackle the global crisis of diet-related disease.
Since 2010, it and its lobby groups have brought 235 lawsuits against governments."

Why are ultra-processed food firms panicking and suing? Because they know time is running out
As the harm caused by their products becomes more evident, manufacturers are resorting to denial and lawsuits to keep regulation at bay, says former Guardian special correspondent Felicity Lawrence

Q: How did you get your start in museum work and art handling?
A: I had gone to art school at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. After that I was doing odd jobs, restaurant jobs, one prop painting job and one dock building job, but mostly restaurants. Then a friend told me about opening at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and I applied and got that job.
