There are (sort of) two kinds of coders: those who see it as just a well-paying, stable job, and those who do it on nights and weekends because they love it, and it’s part of their identity. Today’s LLM tools now enable an individual to essentially be an entire software _factory_, and this is going to impact those 2 kinds of coders very differently — especially in how they respond to *both* of their bosses trying to put them out of work.

I don't exactly follow the Pomodoro Technique but because of my health issues I try to get up and move away from my desk every 20 minutes...
So I built a timer that literally locks me out of my computer when the time is up, forcing me to go away and take a break.
Lots of work to do the on firmware but for now it gets to 0, does a bunch of beeps to warn me, waits a few seconds, then types command-control-Q to lock the screen.

The amount of disinformation, deep fakes, and other misdirection I hear about from friends and relatives that they get from traditional social media is insane.
They have to tell me about it because I am almost always completely unaware, even though I am “on the Internet” just as much if not more than them.
This is a deep advantage of using Mastodon/the Fediverse right now. And it is not because fake stuff doesn’t exist here.
It is just not automatically sent to me by every owner, bot, and user. And if it is, it is generally swatted down hard.

Was at a startup conference recently where one company said that they don't build cars - they build smart devices.
I agreed to the person next to me that in the end ..
* it's still a car that should bring me from A to B
* we don't like driving
* we can't afford having a driver so that we can enjoy the entertainment system

Released late in the life of the Mega Drive, Virtua Fighter 2 is a very accomplished rework of Sega's 3D fighting game.
