Israel arms ISIS-jihadists to fight against Hamas just like they armed Hamas to fight against the PFLP.
You may ask yourself “when will they ever learn?” but that's assuming the Israeli government's goal is to live in peace. Why should they need to learn, when arming terrorist groups that destabilize and escalate this conflict isn't a mistake?
Considering how much genocide, ethnic cleansing, settler colonialism and hence the expansion of their borders they have been a…

The UK Conservative Party is in disarray. Since 1979, they have implemented changes with unintended consequences. Water privatisation, sale of social housing, deregulation of building societies, privatisation of railways, and leaving the EU.
Now they are considering withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights, born out of the ashes of the 1930s and 40s in Europe and World War 2.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. Answers to questions:
Many people asked for the context. This is for college students using what they already know about the order of arithmetic operations to start analyzing the structure of code. In the activity, they visual code structures using these kind of diagrams. The important thing here is thus not just subtraction; it’s this way of visualizing the relationships — and there already is a sight-centeric word, “visualize!” But I suspect a blind reader could also use these spatial relationships as a learning tool…if there were a good way of conveying the spatial relationships.

Cards on deck: Trump keeps stack of orders ready to play as needed
Throughout Trump’s second term, White House staff have maintained a stash of executive orders and proclamations they can deploy
depending on the themes of the moment and the narratives they want to shape,
a senior White House official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly about internal strategies.

Some orders are put into the calendar well in advance, the official said.

Quick tip for those with young kids who want them to learn how to use a watch with an analogue (dial) style interface.
While the likes of Flik Flak make nice kids watches, they are a little on the pricy side.
Potentially better IMHO however are these kids field/pilot style watches from AliExpress. They cost basically nothing [<$5🇺🇸] and the hour hand points to an inner ring of numbered hours, while the minute hand points to an outer ring of numbered minutes. So simple!

Small watch with black dial and white numberals. The inner ring of numberals are hours. The outer ring is minutes. It has a nato(ish) style strap and is held by an adult hand. The hand is wearing a black ring and in the background you can see some greenery from plants.

The fediverse is often full of drama with admins falling out with each other and defederations, and threats and tears.
Now, with the public spat between the Twitter admin and the TruthSocial admin, the rest of the world gets to enjoy a similar spectacle!
They can't defederate of course, because Twitter never became open enough and TruthSocial was already defederated by everyone as soon as it existed.
Only on Fedi can you get the full experience of a public spat and defederation, because only on Fedi can the admins really at-mention and and directly reply and take the final dramatic action of a flouce-defederation.
Trump fans who are Twitter users can't port their followers over to TruthSocial, and Turther Musk fans can't just migrate their account to Twitter.
They're stuck.
So you see Fedi really is the best when it comes to massive public spats between admins and this current admin-drama is only getting more attention because it's between two of the worst people in the world.

Groups like the Heritage Foundation and Heartland Foundation are generations old. The Federalist Society has been promising to overturn liberal justice since the 1960s. The Religious Right started working to overturn Roe v. Wade the day it was promulgated. All these groups have big money, and they play the long game.
What’s happening today is their platform, backed by their research. The fact it won’t work, that the 20th century won’t be put back into a bottle, that the Amendments put in place after 1865 somehow aren’t part of the “real” Constitution, is yet to be proven by events."

I've been experiencing a lot of frustration and anxiety lately and I just can't seem to find a way out of it, and every day seems like it's getting worse I've tried everything I can think of to make it stop but nothing seems to be working, I really need some way to prove to myself that I'm still alive even if things feel like they are moving to a really dark place I need to do something to prove it. Please don't offer me any solutions or reassurances. Just give me some…

Combined Public Service Announcement and Today I Learned: if you have `CLICOLOR=1` on macOS, if you do an `ls` of a directory which is inside iCloud Drive, evicted files (i.e., those that cannot be immediately used, but need to be downloaded first from iCloud) show with a grey background… see below:
First, both files are in iCloud, but not locally available. They have a dotted cloud icons in the iCloud Status field of the Finder window, and a greyed background in the output of the `ls` …

A Finder window showing a Folder named "CLICOLOR_Test" with two files: a PDF called "cssday.pdf", and a PNG file with a name that starts with "Screenshot-2025-" and ends with "17.08.34.png". The iCloud Status icon shows a cloud with a down arrow, indicando that it is not currently downloaded.
Screenshot of Terminal.app showing the command `ls -ln` run on the CLICOLOR_Test folder, and showing both files with a gray background in their filename.
Another screenshot of the CLICOLOR_Test folder, now with cssday.pdf showing a down-arrow circle (representing that the file will be kept downloaded), which means it is undoubtedly locally available.
Screenshot of Terminal.app showing the command `ls -ln` run on the CLICOLOR_Test folder, but this time the `cssday.pdf` file shows a white background, while the screenshot file still sports a gray background behind their filename.

Though Republicans do not say they are explicitly trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act,
a series of small, technical changes in Trump's budget bursting bill would substantially reduce Obamacare enrollment and increase the cost of coverage

Finished laying out the northwest corner. I think this is pretty final in that area, but I'm going to move the fan connectors and actually put one of the fans where they are.

KiCAD layout view. Both of the main BGAs are mostly escaped, and all of the SERDES along the south edge are routed.

There's lots of power stuff hanging off the east edge which probably will not fit unless I make the board a bit wider but we'll see.
KiCAD 3D render of the board showing progress in layout. The entire northwest area is now fairly finished looking.

If you are missing two expensive road bicycles in Berlin Friedrichshain... you might wanna check with the Police. They've picked up two bikes that were there for days and not locked at all. They looked expensive.

A person wearing a police uniform is carrying a bicycle. Above, there are green leaves from a tree, and a blue car is parked nearby. The scene is set on a cobblestone street.

“Time to drop the really big bomb,” Elon Musk wrote on social media.
Donald Trump, he said, “is in the Epstein files. That is why they have not been made public.”
Musk did not offer any evidence, but soon added,
“The truth will come out.”

History shows that once a vanguard of rogues and lawless individuals gets a hold on government, it is difficult to eject them.
Rather, the changes in government applied with force by this vanguard become normalized.
And that is what is happening here.

The Trump administration’s cancellation of $766 million in contracts to develop mRNA vaccines against potential pandemic flu viruses -- is the latest blow -- to national defense, former health security officials said.
They warned that the U.S. could be at the mercy of other countries in the next pandemic.

When unvaccinated families present with measles at healthcare centres, doctors sometimes struggle to even discuss vaccination with the parents, Hussain said.

I would ask: ‘How come you aren’t [vaccinated]?’
And they will say: ‘Oh, we’re exempt’
or ‘We’ve had this discussion before and we just don’t want to,’” she said
