Phanpy doesn't support quoots yet, so I'm using Mastodon's stock web interface and.. it's bad. Compare how busy it looks with unnecessary stuff (do I really need a "post" input form on screen at all times? Do I need a link to "favorites" visible at all times?), but also - the fonts are bad. Bad, bad, bad. Just so much harder to read. And the timeline toots just kind of run together, rather than being clearly delineated by whitespace in phanpy.

Today, I am going to be removing a favorite user feature: picking your own font for the Xogot text editor and La Terminal as now you need Apple's approval to use third party fonts installed in the system.
But at least my users will be safe from picking a font in bad taste.

No one wants to build bad products. But in an industry where programmers implement features to order, it can be hard to shake that feeling.
This is how orgs see the ROI of UX: as a soothing function to tell everyone they're doing a good job. And as a scapegoat, when we finally learn otherwise.
UX cheerleading is doing the industry no favors.

Tried a new mechanic as I was looking at a car they were selling in their lot. They botched the oil change by not tightening the oil filter properly. At least I noticed it before the leak was too bad, but damn.

I have... I had the bad habit of going to bed late every day, but a year ago I adopted an abandoned kitten who now has very strict schedules: at midnight, it's time to sleep. As I write these words, I have to move him away from the keyboard, which he only leaves if I go to bed. He stays with me for a while and then leaves.
I thought adults made these kinds of decisions.

First annoyance I've run into: standard bit shifting operations in Nim. It's not bad, but it took far too long to track down the right operator. In most languages, you're looking at the `>>` and `<<` operators, in Nim it's `shr` and `shl` which I totally wouldn't have guessed. However, got the initial register idea down.
```nim
high: uint8 = 0
at the moment, everyone having a phone camera is good evidence for reality. you can have multiple angles of the same moment and check them for consistency. it's hard to synthesize that, because gen-AI is bad at continuity.
I expect this to change within 5y. it's expensive to get continuity in high-res video of a 3d scene, but it's achievable.
people will keep trying prompt-to-video, but that will never work as well as prompt-to-scene-file-to-renderer.
Something nice to look at. I used a portion of the extra pumpkin puree to make pumpkin (with raisin) muffins for my snacks.
They are not too bad, but next time I will add more of my homemade pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree as the taste was a bit too subtle for me. I may also add a bit of rolled oats to pump up the fibre.
Pluribus is so bad. Prestige tv continues to make a mockery of itself.
How do you deal with it when you get a message that seems "somewhat odd", and you suspect it's "AI"-written? I have a hard time dealing with it. I feel falsely accusing people of writing AI answers is also bad, and, obviously, usually you can't be sure.
You loved Air Bud (1997) and its many sequels.
Now, coming soon to theaters near you: Bad Bo (2025).
