Periodic reminder for people interested in #HomeLab
There is a @… bot that replaces the old gup.pe homelab bot.
Mention it in your homelab posts and it will boost them. Follow it to see all the homelab posts it boosts that may not normally get federated to your instance.
For those who don’t know, these bots exist because when you look for a a hashtag, your server only checks the posts that have been federated to it.
In order for a message to be federated to your server, the author (or one of the people boosting it) have to be followed by someone on your server. If no one touching the message is being followed, it’ll never get federated to your server and you won’t see it.
Hashtags are great for finding messages, but only messages that were federated to your server. They don’t help message propagation.

There is a @homeassistant@fedigroups.socialbot that replaces the old gup.pe home assistant bot.
Mention it in your home asssitant posts and it will boost them. Follow it to see all the #homeassistant posts it boosts that may not normally get federated to your instance.
There’s also @… - follow that and it will automatically boost everything you post with #homeassistant without you having to remember to mention the bot.

Now using an app made in Google AI studio that let me quickly summarize my timeline, a list or a hashtag for a certain period. Using Gemini 3 Flash. A timesaver to quickly get an overview of what is happening on Mastodon. All possible because of Mastodons open API's.

I really like following hashtags in Mastodon. There’s real gems hidden in them.
i just wish we could combine multiple hashtags to follow so I get posts on very specific topics.

@… Ich (relativ gut sehend) finde den exzessiven Gebrauch von Hashtags ebenfalls sehr störend. Als Faustregel kann man sich merken, dass 3 Hashtags im Fließtext noch tolerabel sind. Besser weniger.
Was deine Vermutungen und Unterstellungen bez. KCs Motivation angeht, ist dein Post leider ein ganz tiefer und enttäuschender Griff ins Klo, Michael…

Das jüngste Update von Bluesky bringt eine Kennzeichnung von Livestreams und spezielle Hashtags für Beiträge über Aktienmärkte. Die User wünschen etwas anderes.

Also, ich weiß ja nicht aber die Profilseiten in der Mastodon Version v4.6.0-nightly.2026-04-04 gefallen mir irgendwie überhaupt nicht.

Em dias como hoje, eu tenho saudades de quando tinha uma conta exclusiva para assuntos sérios e esta daqui era só pra relaxar, sem seguir nenhuma conta de notícias e bloqueando hashtags indicando temas complicados. Eu cheguei cansado do trabalho e jš estou me sentindo mal de ver tantas coisas pesadas na tootline. Hš momentos em que isto nos faz mal.

Mastodon question, I'm trying to completely filter/hide posts with specific hashtags and I can't get it to work.
I set them up as filter for "#blah" and I'm enabling to filter the Home timeline but they just stay in my Home timeline—I've tried with and without "whole word" on.
Is there some known issue in v4.5.7 or am I missing something?

Requests are being spread on fediverse to use hashtags not inline but at the end, because screen readers. I am aiming for accessibility.
At the same time, I like using hypertext in full and not as a digital copy of printed materials, and highly value terms being links when first used, not with the main expectation that they are followed, but for clarification (eg. of definitions) and semantic linking.
Can and should I indicate such "soft" (non-intrusive) links in HTML?

Hey folks, please, if you are posting especially political stuff, photos, articles, memes... Please use a common hashtag.
If someone can't filter away based on hashtags, the only solution is to mute the whole account. This would be collateral damage.
Cant speak for anyone else, but I want to keep my timeline clean. Even if I have to mute complete accounts 🙁
