In fact, it unlocks the computer, but blanks the screen and disables input. I think UltraVNC had similar options over 15 years ago, but only for Windows.
In principle, it should be possible to replicate this behaviour for any remote desktop tool (?). 🤔

There is some tube burn-in which is noticeable but pretty minor overall, nothing that will get in the way of playing games at all. Overall geometry looks good, doesn't really need a ton of correction.

The UART and servo PWM were both bitbanged because the PIC12F683 didn't have any UARTs and I hadn't learned how to use the timer block yet.

Even cranking the brightness to 100% didn't solve the issue, and the picture was then slightly brighter and washed out. Spent a ton of time troubleshooting the board and got to the point where there was no obvious issue with the signal going into the TV.
Decided to sleep on the problem and attacked it today where I realized what the issue was: the Picture setting was at the minimum. …

It's a card flipping dungeon crawler (the dev calls it an 'adventure card roguelike') that's fairly easy to figure out-- lots of strategy and replayability. At first, you can start out playing as either a knight or a vampire, delving down, trying not to die of hunger.
