This is a Duolingo streak screen with a dark teal background. Yeah, good luck with that for Safari users...
These are the top and bottom parts of 2 loads of that page a few seconds apart. Not private windows, no browser restart or other trickery. It can’t even settle on a CPU or screen size in the same load. It is apparently using 2 different sources for CPU type and for screen dimensions. I have not told Safari to claim that it is on Intel, that appears to be an Apple choice.

Mandatory cycle helmet laws just mean less cycling and an overall decline in health for the population.
This idea is by someone who is an idiot or hates cyclists.
Also what next, shall we mandate wearing walking helmets for people walking and running in the winter because statistically I think they are far more likely to be falling and hurting themselves.

Finished the layout for the 4x 2:1 relay board. Still have to do cutouts in the ground planes under the relays then add some artwork and revision ID text etc but that should be relatively quick.
This is intended to drive one ThunderScope from eight different signal sources on the probe demo/test board.

I've released the first beta of Scantailor-Spectre, a fork of Scantailor for tidying up book scans. The workflow is PDF in to (OCR'd) PDF out. Ideal for cleaning up old yellow scans. It processes a 250 page text in about 2 minutes, basically unattended. Oh, and it does a round trip to Zotero.

I was writing an email in Gmail to a Croatian office, in Croatian, and I was confused why the Gmail AI assistance would think I am writing in Polish. So I clicked on it and wanted to change to Croatian, but instead it started changing my text. I was very confused.

Some scans have a “soft mask” with the color (more or less) of the original, which is quite annoying. It’s quite easy to remove by extracting the images with pdfimages and then creating a new PDF from only the bitonal text images.
But if there’s OCRed text, you lose it in the process.

A note from my journal that I just stumbled across again.
It's fascinating how you can always put things in a new context just by flipping back through old entries.
Almost as if the process of coming to terms with things continues way beyond the last entry.
