One thing I think the news reports are missing about the guy killed by an MRI machine while wearing a 9kg metal chain, is that you *can't* flip a switch and quickly turn off the magnetism, even in emergency situations. Shutting down is a slow involved process, and many MRI magnets are always active for their working life.

In Lola Young’s “Messy” she chooses to rhyme “clean” with “been”, but sung as bin /bɪn/ rather than bean /biːn/. And it’s a perfect tiny synecdoche.

malaria_genes: Malaria var DBLa HVR networks
Networks of recombinant antigen genes from the human malaria parasite P. falciparum. Each of the 9 networks shares the same set of vertices but has different edges, corresponding to the 9 highly variable regions (HVRs) in the DBLa domain of the var protein. Nodes are var genes, and two genes are connected if they share a substring whose length is statistically significant. Metadata includes two types of node labels, both based on sequence st…

Saw a take speculating what the reintroduction of cane sugar to US Coca-Cola (the change was a result of 1980s tariffs) would have on demand for corn.
Unmeasurable, I'd imagine.
Only maybe 20% of US corn is for human consumption, and the amount used for HFCS is only a small number (under 4%?) and that amount has been declining in the last decade.

One aspect of copyright is you may be licensed to have a copy of a file, but that doesn't grant the right to sub-license. So, technically, you can't use a service to transfer that file or (often) store it on cloud services - because they usually require you grant a perpetual license.
In practice this has been ignored as nobody expected it to be an issue.
Maybe until the question of AI training?

Two temporal networks of bill co-sponsorship tendencies among US Congresspeople, from 1973 (93rd Congress) to 2016 (114th Congress). Edges are signed, indicating the presence of a significant tendency to co-sponsor, or tendency to not co-sponsor, bills. Two networks per year, one for each chamber (House, Senate). It's easy to build a website, and difficult to build a website that has to be up for more than four years.
(Four years is roughly the point when some kind of migration is unavoidable, and a service where the functional knowledge has been lost will just get switched off or completely replaced.)
