I got used to 120Hz displays, and now 60Hz feels off. It's not visibly bad at all, but scrolling and mouse movement feel less like a physical motion, and more like pixels shifting on the screen. Hard to describe.
Which is annoying, because there are some nice 5K and 6K displays, but 60Hz. It wouldn't have bothered me at all if I didn't use 120Hz first!
Don't get high-refresh displays! ;)

"Fundamentally, what we're trying to do when we have evidence here in medicine or science is prevent ourselves from confusing randomness for a signal. ... we don't want to mistake something, we think it's going on and it's not. And the challenge, particularly with any intervention is you only get to see one version of reality. You can't give someone a drug, follow them, rewind history, not give them the drug and then follow them again."

Baltany branded watch with a milk chocolate brown face featuring a 'Mercedes' style hour hand, while the minute hand is sword-shaped with its sides angling outwards. The hourly markings use the vintage Rolex 'error-proof' layout (a.k.a. the 'California dial'). As such the 12 is a downward facing triangle, 3/6/9 are horizontally aligned batons. Nice gimmick with the shop window animating the stories as they're told, and it liking the simple story of Belinda saving a single life.
Not really clear if the Barber here is a story writer or a story collector. He seems to want credit as though he wrote them but also to not have a name to credit them to, and to have weaved some kinda story collecting machine. He surely can't take credit for all human stories? It was a beautiful machine: a story tree that's also a brain with a heart in it.
I find myself sympathetic with the aims of this barber anyway. Yes, do kill all the gods. Great plan! Lets do it.
I play this song from Julian Cope, Psychedelic Odin, in which he swears to undertake a holy task set by a group of River Nixes: Kill all the gods for us, oh do it well.
So I like a story teller killing gods, I don't really want his plans thwarted! Join him Doctor! Kill al
l the gods!
Beautiful big space spider, weaving all the stories into it's web. Not sure why it's there though. Seems like just outer-space with no spider would have done,

Back from a #cycling loop around the #ammersee !
Unfortunately I forgot to turn on my cycling computer for the first half hour 🥴 Yeah well, the red frame around the statistics page was quite clear but .. well.
Anyways! It was a nice ~50km loop with excellent weather (prepared with a lo…

A serene landscape scene featuring a body of water with boats gently floating on its surface. The water is surrounded by lush green trees, creating a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. The sky above is a clear blue with white clouds adding a touch of whimsy to the scene. A single tree with full foliage stands prominently in the foreground, adding a sense of depth and perspective to the composition.
A serene scene depicting a green bicycle parked on a grey road surrounded by lush grass and tall trees. The bicycle, with its green frame and black tires, stands out against the neutral background. The road stretches into the distance, disappearing into the horizon. No people are present in the image, only the solitary bicycle.

Nice analysis of housing in Vienna. Back of the envelope calculation suggests rents are about 30% less than in San Francisco. Why aren't we hearing more about this from the "abundance" crowd? We know we won't get there with market driven housing production (I've had more than one developer explain that to me)

So all in all, this seems like a pretty normal set of WWDC announcements. A nice cosmetic redesign, which will be fun to play around with; the rest are daily quality of life improvements, and the artificial intelligence stuff seems like modest incremental gains that seem realistic, and maybe even somewhat useful.
Not the pie in the sky bullshit that ended up never shipping last year.

Hey friends! We just returned from a longer walk along the #Osterseen near #Iffeldorf.
We try to avoid any elevation to support my wife's recovery from her knee surgery.
The walk was nice, but the weather was awful for photos. Very bright, very hazy. As much as I enjoyed the walk…

Hi friends!
I set my alarm to 5am and headed out for a nice walk. It was getting warm, so I started early. - and it was just so good to do so!
A nice 6h walk with lots of views, lots of photos and just enjoying being out. End the #summit just for me 😍
On the way up I noted all places where I could refuel later using my water filter. Seriously: why didn't I buy that waaays ear…

A scenic view from a grassy hilltop with a wooden cross and a triangular structure marking the summit. In the background, rugged mountains with rocky peaks and valleys stretch under a clear blue sky. The landscape includes patches of green grass and scattered yellow flowers.
