Empowering change in the garden! Today, we transformed the side patch, overcame wild onions and built a mini fence. Let's make plastic waste disappear!

Today was the first time I planted potatoes in shorts and a tank top at 25 °C. Before it used to be basically the first thing to do in the garden, yes when the ground had thawed and all that, but usually really quite miserable wet cold weather still. It is still the first thing we did in the garden. Some of the difference is that I am just a bit later with it this year, but some of it is that the first weekend of April feels like fucking June already.
This world is so weird now.

Not sure why I have so many new snake themed followers recently, but here is a picture I took of a snake we rescued by cutting it out of some old tangled garden netting when in #Ohio. We gave it a bowl of water because it was *super dehydrated. I was never very sure of ID because it was pale and mottled from being trapped.
Good customer service at a garden center today. My wife is in a transport chair picking out plants to start our garden. Her lap had a plastic tray filled with plants. One staff member came over and offered to find a cart and push it around for us while picking out a few more plants. The back seat of the car is filled with plants, and the wife is VERY happy. I didn't get his name, but the store got a note that he was a help.

On Thursday afternoon I was interviewed by Shaun (brindle) and Dotty (black/white) so they could check I would be able to serve them to the standard they require when their primary humans are away.
Dotty still a little unsure, though my treat dispensing abilities were acceptable. Shaun was sold after the first ear scritch.
I shall be seeing them again soon!

I am sad that I was too young to see this concert.
« In July 1974, Wakeman headlined the Crystal Palace Garden Party concert, performing the album in its entirety with selections from The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Wakeman decided to use the small lake in front of Crystal Palace Bowl as part of the show; balloon versions of the dinosaurs were built to act out the album's climactic fight. When deployed, rising from the water, they failed to fully inflate, collapsed into each other and…

A not particularly exciting photo but nonetheless sad. I was out inspecting shrubs now that our snow cover is gone and discovered pur baby Eastern Redbud tree got snapped off near the ground. It likely happened during one of the ice storms we had in January. We started it as a seedling 3 years ago and last fall it was about 3 feet tall. I should have protected it better for the winter, despite its sheltered location.

Deciphered Herculaneum papyrus reveals more precise burial place of Plato
Historical accounts vary about how the Greek philosopher Plato died:
in bed while listening to a young woman playing the flute;
at a wedding feast;
or peacefully in his sleep.
But the few surviving texts from that period indicate that the philosopher was🔸 buried somewhere in the garden of the Academy 🔸he founded in Athens.

“But your mom will get scammed” isn’t the great argument for keeping walled garden platforms that you think it is.
It’s not only misogynistic and ageist, it’s also simply not true.
Guess what, people are getting successfully scammed, right now, every day, on the walled garden platforms you say prevent scams.
Why is this? Because technology can’t solve social problems (in this case, crime).
