After lots of digging, the lets encrypt riot certificate was lacking on this specific, chinese, android build.
I installed it manually so it could serve it's purpose.

No complaints so far. Easy access to tab management, no weirdly hidden buttons or menus you need to tap multiple times to see fully. As a bonus, it has built-in filter support as well as several great Firefox and Chrome plug-ins. And Kagi’s search is optional. In fact you have more search options than in Safari.

@thomastraynor@social.linux.pizzaI didn't think it would make a huge difference. I turned off more of the Google tracking, diagnostics and advertising. Chromebook before I made the changes took around 2 gigs of memory doing nothing.
Now, it is running the base O/S and Mastodon in a bit over 700 megs and feels a bit snappier.
Did the same for my cell phone, wife's cell phone and her tablet. Hopefully she will wonder why they are running faster (and cooler).

So I used the bed for drinking a glass of wine, watching Who Culture, and mucking about on the tablet screen.
