Designers are always inventing new titles. Web designer, UI designer, UX designer, UX/UI designer, Product designer, UX/AI designer (???)
These are all the same!
As long as your work is mediated entirely by Figma and Jira, you are just a production artist.
Fighting with PMs over who "gets" to do strategy (usually: neither of you) won't help you. Lean into the core #design

'graphviz' is a suite of programs for drawing graphs (In the nodes/edges senses, rather than upwards and to the right sense) - and it uses a file format called 'dot'. Lots of things generate dot output (such as systemd-analyze I mentioned) and it's really easy to generate from scripts and things. 'dotty' is probably the most common program in the suite.
There are some newer formats and programs - but this one is probably the most universal.

Just paid for a personal annual account with Photopea, the web based image editor. It's free to use and you don't need to login, but 50EU/year takes off the very large amount of ads.
It's got that Photoshop 3.0 design vibes that means I can still sort of use it. bsky.app/profile/bmann.ca/post

Claude 3.7 describes the image as: "This image appears to be from the classic British science fiction television series "Blake's 7." The scene shows two people in a futuristic spacecraft setting, with distinctive angular wall panels visible in the background that were characteristic of the show's set design.

The person on the left is wearing a greenish metallic top, while the person on the right is dressed in a dark outfit with a structured vest or armor piece that has padded shoulders and a p…

"In 2019 a team of web development and design celebrities gathered in CERN, to build an emulator of the original web browser created by Tim Berners-Lee, known as WorldWideWeb. This emulator is available online and, fittingly enough, runs on a modern web browser.
The team included John Allsop, Kimberly Blessing, Mark Boulton, Martin Chiteri, Jeremy Keith, Craig Mod, Angela Ricci, Brian Suda, and Remy Sharp, who kept a diary of the project in his blog."

Solidarity to union members and students facing cuts at North Island College. VIU and NIC have a friendly rivalry, but more importantly, we each serve as access-focused post-secondary institutions for portions of Vancouver Island north of Victoria.
The list of program suspensions is long. And unfortunately includes some skills in my field… but they are generally... broad cuts. I've included the list below.
The #BCNDP Government seems perfectly ok with post-secondary institutions in BC going through the worst cuts in at least 25 years (my career) and I would dare say - ever.

English Alt Text: A black-and-white photo showing a dense web of barbed wire in the foreground, tangled and chaotic. Behind it, modern high-rise buildings with clean lines and geometric shapes rise into the sky. The contrast between the sharp, twisted wire and the orderly architecture evokes themes of confinement versus freedom, or security versus openness. The wire dominates the lower half of the image, while the buildings loom in the background, partially obscured. …

English Alt Text: A black-and-white photo of a construction site featuring a tall tower crane with a long boom extending upward and a hook hanging from its end. In the foreground, a streetlight with four lamps arranged in a cross pattern stands prominently, providing a sense of scale. The sky is overcast, casting a muted tone across the scene. On the right side, part of a leafy tree is visible, adding a natural element to the otherwise industrial setting. The crane do…

English Alt Text: A black-and-white photo of an urban outdoor setting, possibly a park or plaza. The image is heavily blurred due to camera movement, creating a sense of motion and distortion. Several people are visible but indistinct, appearing as ghostly figures. Trees and buildings form the backdrop, though their details are obscured. The photo has a textured overlay, possibly from aged film or print damage, adding a vintage and abstract quality. The overall effect…

English Alt Text: A black-and-white photo of a bustling multi-level structure. The lower level features a glass-paneled escalator and stairway, with people ascending and descending. The upper level has storefronts with Chinese signage and individuals walking along the corridor. Reflections on glass surfaces create layered visual effects. The image captures candid moments of daily life, with people engaged in shopping or commuting. The architectural design emphasizes v…

BLAKE: You said you have a way to free us from the web.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 describes the image as: "This image shows a scene from what appears to be a science fiction production, featuring distinctive theatrical makeup and costuming. The character has pale gray-toned skin and wears an elaborate period-style costume with ornate detailing around the collar area. The styling includes shoulder-length dark hair swept back from the face.

The makeup design creates an otherworldly appearance, suggesting an alien or non-human character. The costume includes …

Adolfo Garcia-Sastre, a microbiologist at Mount Sinai’s medical school who wasn’t involved with the study, called the work
“a good vaccine to have ready in case of any outbreaks with this virus”
However, he thinks this approach may fall short in tackling human influenza.
“H5 changes in multiple directions, so a central antigen makes sense,
while in the human flu or human SARS-CoV-2,
the central antigen moves with time.”

»Just use HTML — JavaScript is…
- Slower to load
- Slower to run
- More prone to breaking
- Harder to read and reason about
- Doesn’t actually look like the final output«
Don't use JavaScript for the design, because CSS as well as SVG images can create a lot of animation and the ability to create a dynamic web interface.
