Samsung's One UI 8 build animation files show its future tri-fold phone, with three rear panels and two inward-folding hinges, rumored to be the Galaxy G Fold (Aamir Siddiqui/Android Authority)

why is this a feature and not a bug (from a release changelog)
> UI polish: scrollbars now auto-hide across the app
if you polish a bit more, then you can just hide the whole UI i suppose...
4. Similar to number 1, but I just want a button in the web UI which can update the app. It's probably a security thing or something, but this is literally the first time I do all this docker RPi self-hosting stuff... 😭 I think a huge chunk of my issues would go away if I could just manage everything (updates, song additions, auto file tagging) in the Navidrome web UI instead of all of these other apps.

I have officially abandoned NewsBlur in favour of my personal FreshRSS instance.
It’s so much faster, and I prefer the management UI by, I dunno, 1000 times.
The reading UI and UX are identical for me, because I use NetNewsWire anyway.
3. Very minor, but Navidrome can import and play radio station streaming links, which I love, except for m3u8 links. I'm able to stream them in one of my third-party mobile apps (Symfonium), but not the Navidrome web UI: https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/3988…
Watch Github for what happens for companies that go all-in on AI.
Notice all the details that are wrong now. Notice the docs. Notice the confusion between different interfaces. Notice the UI jank in new places. This is what happens when engineering decisions are made by default instead of discussion and planning. This is what happens when writing (already easier than editing) becomes even easier without improving editing.
I don't think I like the new Plex app UI. Good thing I've been making my own custom Jellyfin UI.
Uma coisa irritante dessa atualização da UI do celular Samsung é que ele só muta os sons das notificações. Mas všrios outros sons, como o barulho de enviar mensagem pelo WhatsApp, continuam ativos.

I built a Firefox extension that allows you to append arbitrary arguments/text to each Google query automatically. I will now go through whatever hell is required to get it onto the addon store. It's up on GitHub for the curious. https://github.com/theodric/ArgsGoogleSearches
@… That’s very nice!
It will clearly work for the domain model, but can you use it effectively with e.g. a React application to test the UI components?
Sometimes I feel crazy for using the mastodon vanilla UI on desktop and mobile, but I really like it and it does all the things I need it to.
Ui, schon wieder #Tatort aus Wien 😍
I've been using ClickUp for a few months now...and like every other productivity tool I've used over the last number of years it has its pros and cons.
It's got a lot of features but sometimes pretty basic features don't "just work" - and that makes me unhappy. 🙁
For example, right now I have some recurring tasks that will not allow an update to their due date manually. If I set a new date it resets back to the original date. Even more concerning is that this isn't clear from the UI.
The UI acts as if the change was successful but a page refresh reveals the change didn't save.
But the real reason I wanted to post wasn't about ClickUp particularly but about chatbots in general. They verified that my issue was an actual bug and created a ticket for it but the way I've been instructed to view the ticket status is by opening the chatbot, telling it I want information on my ticket (pasting in the ticket ID) and after doing all that I get this
5/6: Umm, no. I want to see an actual ticket please. I don't want to have to talk to a chatbot to see it. Chatbots really are great for a lot of things (during the free trial of ClickUp I found the chatbot quite helpful in learning how to do things without searching through docs) but this sort of "there is a direct record", please no. Or let me paste it in and do the lookup immediately - and provide a permalink so I don't need to chat every time!
I'm sticking with ClickUp at the moment, but one of these days when I magically get a large amount of free time, I'm going to write my own solution...I've only been saying that for a few years now. ;-)

HyperCard was magnificent. Still is.
The HyperTalk language was cool — but even cooler IMO was the way the dev environment mixed code with direct manipulation of the UI. There are lots of problems with that approach for generalized Ui development, yes, but the experience of it was magical.
Unity and the like have a similar editor structure — edit UI objects, attach code to them — but the feeling is totally different somehow.

Bought a nothing phone to explore Android a bit more. the hardware is super nice. Struggling a bit to cope with the ui things tho. Specially miss pull down to search which i use all the time on iOS side. Also in general things feel a bit more weird and glitchy. Sure I'll get used to it tho. Already installed nix-on-droid which is super nice.
Writing anything on iOS is such a PITA. What a joke of useless UI this shit has become. The autocorrect. The selection shenanigans. The copy and paste. The undo. The scrolling. The autocorrect. The positioning of the cursor. The autocorrect.

I propose the following contest for the Apple designers and engineers working on the UI:
Round 1: create a folder with two apps
Round 2: after placing the folder at one the side of the screen, add two more apps to the folder.
Round 3: add four more apps to the folder but on the second screen of the folder
Round 4: move top left and 3rd icons from the 2nd screen to another, new folder
Each round should be timed.
If you are proud with your result, all good.

Foundational rule of settings management in UI design:
Make sure the only thing anyone ever wants to change is in the Advanced Settings submenu, and make that as difficult as possible to discover. If it can actually be discovered, put in place a short timeout to prevent the user making the change before the option disappears.
Is Keepass on Android really dead? On Apple devices there's Strongbox that is up to date and native UI/UX. On Linux, KeepassXC does the job well.
And Android has two apps, both of them are unmaintained. One of them, the maintainer can't even merge the Passkeys support and release.
Someone™ should make a commercial version of it.

What I'd like to have is a todo list that stays on your screen on top of everything else until you're done with everything.
The UI should still allow you to work and do other stuff, of course - what I want is something that a) doesn''t use or require reminders and notifications, and b) annoys me just enough for me to actually do that stuff.
Is there such a wondrous beast?
Every once in awhile I drag a file over the wrong pixel in Windows Explorer, over a broken network share. And the entire operating system UI comes to a frozen halt for 30 seconds while it times out. It's 2025.
The real magic is learning a few tricks from those performance talks (like switching from walltime to measure to measuring throughout, a nice mental model change, among others), how easy flamegraphs have become in Instruments, and how good the UI to support it has become.
If you are like me, then you might have installed the #GoogleAuthenticator app, back in the days when it was the only solution out there for #TOTP #2FA.

Here's an accessibility tip for Fedilab, an Android app for Mastodon, Pixelfed, Friendica, and GoToSocial.
There are two settings that hide the top bar and compose button when a timeline is scrolled down. This helps to make the UI less cluttered for sighted users. But it makes these controls unavailable to screen readers. (Continued in reply.)

I know as a developer just how hard it is to actually make it work, but perhaps the lesson of the Liquid Glass public reaction fiasco is for Apple to just give users •much• more control over the UI theme.
Between the retina transition, iOS 7, accessibility improvements like variable text size, dark mode support, and the long migration away from hard-coded layouts, we developers have grown used to making more adaptable UIs. Lots of the building blocks for OS-level theming are there, both in SwiftUI and in UIKit.
If Apple said “Themes are coming!” at WWDC 26, developers would adapt.
Assuming we still have a functioning society at that point.

Lots of people are suggesting Apple’s own Reminders app, so perhaps it’s worth explaining why it doesn’t work for me.
I use Reminders all the time as a grocery list, and I find the UI reasonable for that. However, for tasks, I find it confusing and noisy (I prefer Todoist), and I don’t think it’s actually very good at reminding me to do things. It tries once, and gives up until the next day! A strange behaviour, for an app named “Reminders”.
