To further set my replies on fire, "disk" is not short for "diskette" (diskette is a diminutive and means "small disk").
Diskettes first showed up in 8" size, which may not seem particularly small but hard disks at the time were larger, often 14 inches (more than 3× the surface area of 8").
The 5¼" diskettes that followed were introduced as "mini-diskettes", or "small small disks".
3½" diskettes were "micro-diskettes", or "very small small disks".

STM32MP2 XC7K160T PCIe test board progress! 66 unrouted nets in the power supply, but I think it'll fit.

The #roundhouse, now, at last, with electric lights (from its own solar panels).

The inside of the roundhouse; there are now three spotlights shining upwards into the conical wooden roof structure. The rafters are rough roundwood; the sarking between them is also, consciously, rough and waney edged. The lights, projected into the roof, give a warm glow to the space which is perfectly adequate for most purposes without being excessively bright.

Das heutige #Rausgeschafft brauchte ~35min Anfahrt mit der Ente, war dafür umso geiler: Bin mit dem #BromptonElectricGLine mit #Spikereifen bei Schnee & Eis um den

Ein orange-schwarzes Brompton Electric G-Line steht an einem Metallgeländer auf einem Staudamm. Der Stausee dahinter hat einen recht tiefen Wasserstand und die Oberfläche ist teilweise gefroren.
Ein relativ breiter, gerader Wanderweg entlang einem Waldrand am Hang. Der Weg ist komplett mit Schnee bedeckt mit vielen, teilweise vereisten Fußspuren. Rechts sieht man im Hintergrund noch ein bisschen vom Schluchsee.

I think it’s time for new brake discs on the 2010 Tesla Roadster, these used to be slotted. The new ones are a bit bigger and come with spacers and longer bolts for the front calipers. I put the old discs on soon after I got this car in 2013, about 40k miles ago. Same AP calipers as Lotus Elise, and it was good to get some hands on wrenching time again. #WeirdCarMastodon

The greyhounds at the WGW kennels still need their walks even on Christmas day so we've been open as usual for volunteer walkers, and got a good turnout. Every hound managed a walk in the winter sunshine.
Not only that though: over the last few days our volunteers have cooked and delivered more than 25 whole chickens, as well as sausages, vegetables and fish, so that the hounds could enjoy a special Christmas meal today too!

My hip pain, what I’m pretty sure was bursitis, disappeared after several days of rest. 🙌 I waited another couple of days and felt pretty good about trying it out.
So, we begin again. Again.
Stopped at the halfway point to take a few pictures and let my HR come down a bit. Felt good early and sluggish late. What I expect, for a while anyway.

I usually post in the evening today's post inthe morning for the 'Fotovorschlag' somehow broke my routine.

Vandaag 166 jaar geleden publiceerde Charles Darwin zijn boek The Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection, dat veel later werd verkozen tot het belangrijkste wetenschappelijke boek ooit geschreven.
Het is een van de weinige boeken dat ik in twee talen heb staan. Naast dat het zeer wetenschappelijk is, leest het lekker weg, ik kan het iedereen aanbevelen.

I made nog again

# My eggnog recipe (iterated over a synthesis of historic American recipes) Ingredients for about 1-1.5 liters of nog (depending on booze) - 6 yolks - Optional: 1-2 whites, beaten to stiff peaks - 100g sugar - 2x vanilla beans - About 0.75x nutmeg, grated fine - 1x 250ml small pot double cream - 750ml full-fat++ milk (6% is optimal) - Optional, but delicious: 500ml Napoleon brandy, white rum, vodka, or similar. Don't go too oaky. Destructions - Whisk egg yolks and sugar together until cream…
