It was very very icy at the bottom. And I was super happy to have my micro spikes.

It was a beautiful day for #flying in southern California. Visibility was at least 90 miles, and I managed to squeeze nearly 2 hours out of a few thermals near Warner Springs before making a stop at Santa Catalina Island on the way home.

Sonnenberg ridge entirely living up to its name...
(Made the most of the last warm weather yesterday afternoon to hike/climb along this beautiful long ridge with many cliffs, roped sections, some cute chamois and hardly any people — temporarily felt like late August, yet in two days supposedly snow starting...)

Partly bright and sunny, but fully cold and with generous amounts of wind. “Brisk” doesn’t even begin to do it justice. Still, I am a freak and love this weather. It felt good to be out moving. #TeamShorts of course.
Walked briefly twice to bring my HR down a bit and then stopped to mug at this beautiful Great Blue Heron looking for their lunch. 🐟

My amazing niece flying solo. I took this still* from a video of her getting ATC clearance, taking off, and flying. Solo. She’s not yet 20.
I rly don’t have the words to describe my feelings as I watched the video. I cried like a baby—I can say that much.
Yesterday, I bought her a pair of Ray-Ban aviator shades for Xmas. Because she’s an aviator. ❤️

When I was walking down from the mountains recently I noticed the frost on the trees and branches -- and some single leafs that were still around.
I really liked this extra touch of color in the grey surrounding. And that it's just a little detail on the huge mountain.

As beautiful as a sailboat looks. In my eyes it's totally not worth the effort to own one (on lakes in Germany). While I enjoy helping my friends with their boats occasionally ... the amount of maintenance just confirms my bias every time :D
