"Native apps are bad at rendering text" is interesting framing. Web browsers are native apps, after all, and they're great at rendering web text. Native PDF viewers are great at rendering PDF text. And native rich text editors are great at RTF text—with rulers containing tab stops, etc.
(Back in the '90s, I built parsers and renderers for all three of these: OmniWeb on AppKit, OmniPDF on AppKit, and RTF text for Java.)

The text in the screenshot is exactly what the Hebrew scripture “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” is warning against. People think of that text as an endorsement of revenge, but it’s not; it is a •limit• on retribution. It says that the magnitude of punishment must not exceed the magnitude of the crime.

Anybody know what the easiest way to render a LaTeX file to plain text is?
Note, I do *not* mean stripping markup from the source .tex. I want to actually run all of the macros, generate cross references and ToCs, etc and *then* output UTF8 text rather than say PDF.

Out of curiosity I fired up Twitter to see how GAAD was going over there, and the very first thing I saw was a 7-tweet image thread from BrowserStack with no alt text on the images.
So two lessons learned:
1. BrowserStack chooses to stay on MechaHitler’s CSAM-generating site, and
2. BrowserStack is bad at performative acts.
