If you don't like Fediverse, why are you here? Serious question.
None of the things you want are going to be implemented in a way that is good for the platform, so just go back to Twitter and leave Fedi alone.
We don't need block replies, algorithm, centralized moderation, etc.
Those are all features that are obviously used in bad faith and ruin the platform. I kinda like Fedi and don't want it to be ruined by influencers and misinformation.
Thanks.

When I hit the "gi" shortcut in my browser, I want to do a Google-Image search, not some kind of reverse image-search where I identify images for you.

Now, when I say "gi", you ask me to identify images for you?
This is too many times. No more.

"gi" will no longer mean "Google Image Search", it will bizarrely because of historic finger-memory, mean "search duck-duck-go for images"

The accusation Arab nations would be responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, or are “degenerate”, for not taking in Palestinian refugees, is self-defeated by the fact that accusation comes from the nation that is both the cause for those refugees' existence and does not want to provide shelter to them either.
Additionally, the same argument was used by Nazi Germany about Jewish refugees not being able to leave Germany as less European nations accepted them [

I'm tempted to caveat that we should only create safety for people to make "harmless" mistakes.
I want to call out a critical distinction: It's not okay for mistakes to harm people — but rather it's important to create safety so that people **are not harmed** by mistakes. And that is part of creating safety for people to make mistakes.
Think about it like this: A hospital needs power for ventilators. They have redundant power sources so that any one power source can go out without harming patients.

"Grief is the ultimate interruption of the normalization of mass death and mass murder because in grief, we acknowledge the value of life as we do in no other scenario. We grieve because we love life, because we love those we have lost. We love the living. We know the value of humanity. That is what our grief means to us. And so we retake our humanity, we reclaim public space, and we reclaim this day from a genocidal administration with our grief and with our love, and with our refusal to allow those who are dying to go unacknowledged. We hold this space for them. We say their names. We honor them because they are part of us and we are part of them. And so long as they are dying, there is no justice for any of us. And so there shall be no peace for those who lead us.
I know that many of us are grieving a great deal in these times, and that our grief can at times feel all-consuming. Grief can cause us to shut down, retreat, or turn inward, but I want to remind us that there is power in grief. Because grief refuses the normalization of violence and loss. Our grief is a rejection of dehumanization. By grieving, we are refusing to devalue the lives of those we have lost, and we are refusing to become less human ourselves. We are refusing to sacrifice the parts of ourselves that are soft and permeable enough to facilitate human connection and mutual recognition. In our grief, there is hope for humanity, because in our grief, love and decency persist in the face of atrocity.
I urge you to make space for your grief and to nurture its power. As Rasha Abdulhadi teaches us, “If our hearts break, let them break outward into action."

But if you want to use it in a specific way (e.g. "object X with wings and made of ivory") you run into exactly these kinds of issues: shapes you liked will change, you can't make the tool change only a part of the image and it's all tone-mapped sRGB.

If you wanna lead the Conservative Party and the country then you'd best bide your time and plan to take over AFTER the election wipe-out, ready to take over when Labour show themselves to be just planning more of the same bullshit.
If the tories want rid of Sunak they'd be better off bringing back Bojo than pushing Penny into the role before the election defeat.

The man is wearing a blue jacket and appears to be enjoying his ride, as indicated by his smile. The dominant colors in the image are black and yellow, with the accent color being a shade of green. So this is possibly a monumentally stupid question but if you're shopping for clothes online, and you have your body measurements, can anyone tell me how much you should add to those measurements if you're looking for things that fit well? I'm fairly certain you don't want to go with the straight unaltered numbers but I am at a complete and utter loss and I really don't want to buy things that are too small or uncomfortable. #AskFedi

My equivalent post on Twitter prompted a lot of impassioned and persuasive posts from people urging a #YesNo vote.
I feel I have to think on it more. A Constitutional referendum vote is important- too important for me to decide my vote based on impulse.

And being told you’re wrong by people who want to inform, not attack you, is a gift. I’m lucky to have people who would go to the trouble to explain why I might be wrong.

So I had a crazy idea... I want to try the "Pay What You Want" thing again when selling art, but offer people who can't decide on an amount a chance to "spin the wheel" and then decide if they want to pay the amount they spin.
It would be between $5 and $35 or something.
Is that too crazy or could it work?
I could always let them decide to walk away and not go through with the sale or something.

On a lesser note, I just want to star repos and they go into the same stars list. Open an issue and I can see a list of issues I reported across them all.

I had a similar experience so far. These tools are great for throwing out ideas to see which direction the director wants to go (even better if the director provides these moods himself). But if you want to use it in a specific way (e.g. "object X with wings and made of ivory") you run into exactly these kinds of issues: shapes you liked will change, you can't make the tool change only a part of the image and it's all tone-mapped sRGB.

Known for his meticulous dress sense, director Guy Ritchie wanted each of the actors in his latest movie, The Gentlemen, to be well put-together, even if their characters are on different rungs of the social ladder. “Guy wanted a compelling, urban look for The Gentlemen that is quintessentially British,” costume designer Michael Wilkinson told The Hollywood Reporter. “The characters are a little larger than life. We had fun with the costume choices. Guy didn’t want anything boring or obvious, but it was important not to go overboard and to find a relatable grounding for each character.”

So there was this #Android app that I've used to keep track of carbs in my meals, for #diabetes management. I like it very much — it was lightweight, clean and it worked. It had all I needed; I've basically copied meals, adjusted significant ingredient weights and got total carbs. It had some minimal diabetes-related features, but I've never used them.
It used to be your average AdWare, i.e. free, but showing unobtrusive ads (though probably tracking). Then, it started turning into NagWare, starting to obtrusively invite you to go "premium", to remove ads and get future features. It started being buggy, even though no new features were added yet. Then I've finally visited their ravamped website. Of course, they are aiming for the "#AI" boom: "Community and AI driven platform for diabetes control". They've literally went for Anguillan TLD (".ai").
Now I really need a new app. I don't want to have any part in this.

Been looking at #gotoSocial a little.
Decided to go hardcore and build it from source, even though I don't even know the programming language Go that it's written in at all.
Went pretty well building and running it, wasn't difficult and it's easy to understand how to adapt the page templates and things.
Seems like account migration works well enough now.
Didn't notice that I'd failed to build a bunch of assets for a while so couldn't understand why the settings page wasn't working as suggested and pages were weirdly ugly and non-functional.
Building those assets is bloody node again. Annoying. Hoping to avoid that.
Anyway. It looks good. So customizable, no effort to really do a reader but you use phanphy or something for that. All I really want is good customizeable shop-windows and a functional API.
Thinking that's what I'll move to if further experimentation goes well.
