While I don't think the personal choices are available quite the way this makes it seem, a lot of the core sentiments I deeply agree with: Thinking, for ourselves, and working slowly to make what's new and good rather than what's cliche and expected, is very good, and we need to make that choice. I assume it is time to learn how to file bugs for Apple. My recent experience synchronizing Apple Notes, Journal, Reminders, and now Calendar across devices seems to get worse.
I could imagine some extra complexity handling Notes and Journal.
I cannot imagine how Apple hasn’t figured out a fast, reliable, and consistent sync for Reminders and Calendar.
It’s an extremely frustrating experience. I am wondering why there isn’t an AppleSynchGate yet.

Okay here's my hot elitist opinion for the moment.
If you need the more expensive models, you're either not a very good programmer, or you're being lazy. (and sometimes there's good reasons to be lazy, I'm sure)
But it's _amazing_ how much better the cheaper, lighter, more economical and ecologically friendly LLMs are when you're actually working to craft a test environment, good guardrails and a solid inner developer loop.
You know: the same skills that make a safe, speedy environment for experimentation for people.
It's almost like throwing more brute force a things is actually brute force.

What happened? Gross. It's very much a harm as a systemic effect of "AI"
But also _open source industry_ is in fact a thing I think has been deeply destructive and somewhat replaced the collectivist work done before. We could go back to that. That was good stuff.
But TailwindCSS is super popular.
I also think it's a bad technology, meant to undermine the foundations and design of CSS, leading us to technically worse places.
Also the business? It is selling themes and components.
That's a really hard business to be in. The time to buy a license comes in a project's lifecycle too early, so people avoid it. It's a weird business. Not one I think people should plan to have work.

While I'm talking about new ways to structure computer programs, what does it look like to _push_ data into an LLM? Instead of making it natural language fetching, with huge privilege to do stuff, can we structure things to, say, have one system supply some data context, and push it into an LLM to arrange processing, and that in turn pushes to other systems for action? It's not quite “code and data are separate", but I think the inversion might help mitigate a lot of the lethal trifecta. It also puts humans in the artisan-director seat, rather than the wannabe slave-master's seat, metaphorically.

Facing a pretty strange behavior in #VSCode while editing Markdown: when using the backtick to wrap code, the editor behaves like it's a grave accent waiting for the next character to be entered. If the next character doesn’t accept an accent, then the backtick is not displayed. It is saved in the file though.

I can't even fetch robots.txt without a cloudflare challenge. This is ridiculous.

I do care about my career and I am probably quickly tempted to generalize my thoughts on this.
I wouldn’t really enjoy spending my time reviewing, debugging, correcting, and fixing, and most importantly carrying the responsibility, for a statistical engine. I don't see what the career progression is either. Is it “push as fast as possible to get a promotion and get out of this area before the 💩 starts breaking and you end up spending 1000% of your time in incidents?”
