More seriously, of the devices I brought with me to Cupertino this week, the chances of installing a new operating system on each today are:

Ground-source heat pumps are far more efficient than air-source but can cost 5-10 times more in up-front installation. Air-source units have dramatically improved in the past 15 years and are as easy to install as a traditional A/C unit that sits beside your house. And, if my research is correct and my HVAC salesperson can be trusted, heat pumps can be 10% to 30% cheaper to operate.

Determining our future savings might be a bit difficult. At our old house I knew the cost of filling an oil tank a couple of times a year. That cost went to zero and my Hydro bill went up. Based on the savings I had a 7.5 year ROI on my upfront geothermal install cost. Now I'm in a new home (10 days today) with only monthly averages for Hydro and Enbridge provided by the real estate listing. But that should be enough data to give me an approximate estimate.

This is getting tedious. #UbuntuStudio cannot possibly contain material its own installer cannot extract, and my iso passes sha256 and my install media is flawless (says badblocks) and yet each boot misbehaves differently, failing because it cannot 'read' something.
The time I have spend the last couple of days on Gentoo spins (Redcore, Calculate, Xenia, Moccacino) equals or even surpasses the time necessary for a standard cli Gentoo install 😆
