I'm afraid this is true. I already struggle to raise enough money to keep the very talented young scientists I have working with me (from many different countries already), finding funding for more will be difficult, and why should US scientists essentially queue jump just because of their nationality ? I know that sounds harsh, I have very good US colleagues, but I have to be fair to all, regardless of where they come from. OTOH, if you are a US scientist and you are interested in exploring possibilities in Denmark, give me a shout and we'll see what we can do.

What a heartaching poem of loneliness and the need for the love of another! Just wonderful. I understand now why this poem is so popular, particularly as a gay poem. It is full of meaning and is quite clear about it.
I wondered how it could utter joyous leaves, standing alone there, without its friend, its lover near—for I knew I could not
There's a more cerebral interpretation of this work, particularly if you understand "leaves" to mean "pages in my poetry book Leaves of Grass". Whitman talking about his own poetic inspiration from lovers.
Which well enough. But I'm more interested in Whitman's expressed need for "manly love". Which is clearly on his mind constantly:
my own dear friends ... I believe lately I think of little else than of them
Also Whitman's own eroticization of nature and himself. Here speaking of the tree,
its look, rude, unbending, lusty, made me think of myself

I am struggling with how to deal with very long articles on topics I'm interested about but at a different level than the author.
1. I'm acknowledging that "very long" is a "very" subjective matter. I'd say that for me that's usually what goes beyond 5min read time.
2. I'm also acknowledging that it's quite impossible to find the perfect match of the level of details provided by an article and the level of detail I'm interested.
1. If I save the article for later, I know I won't read it.
2. Many times listening to the article (using ElevenReader) provides a solution.
3. I am starting to use AI summarization more often. Not Safari's which is useless.
I don't feel quite right about this last approach.

It's incredible that the Alberta Premier continues to claim a pipeline to the Northwest (Prince Rupert) is possible. Premier Eby was not there because he was in the middle of a pre-planned trip to Asia (Japan, South Korea, Malaysia). And he said today there won't be any reconsideration of another oil pipeline, "decarbonzed" or not. And Japan has no interest in heavy oil anyway.
"But Eby continued to pour cold water on other premiers' talk of building another oil pipeline across B.C. to the coast, saying there is already the taxpayer-owned Trans Mountain Pipeline, which is not being used to full capacity.
He added that the Japanese don't want heavy oil and thermal coal. And he has not altered his stance against lifting the heavy oil tanker ban on B.C.'s North Coast.”
