Riding through the park along Elliott Bay for the first time in a while and there's lamp posts going up along what used to be an unlit bike path.
This used to be one of my favorite urban night rides: well paved, completely car free, great views of the distant city lights, but no lights in the park itself.
Now it's ruined.

The way you make an axe haft is you take a straight grained piece of hickory or ash, you split it along the grain with a froe, and then you use a drawknife to do final shaping (including for the eye). The reason you do this is that the shape then follows the natural cellulose fibres of the wood, which are very much stronger along their length than at even at a very slight angle.

The washing machine is thrumming along in the laundry. First load. I wander out the back door. Outside, it's damp but not raining. A currawong sits on a rock awaiting the morning's largesse. I pour out a small cupful of seed onto the feeder. On my way back, I pause by the sunken bathtub (repurposed as a planter). It is overflowing with luscious mint plants made extra vibrant by the overnight rain. I pick a single leaf and inhale. Its scent is glorious. Another sunday in suburbia.

Chicken fettucine alfredo for dinner. Made the pasta. Next up is to make the alfredo sauce. Chicken strips are ready to cook along with the mushrooms and garlic.

Our VVE management company recently scheduled repainting, during winter, with the most incompetent company possible, who did a horrible job, some of which didn't need to be done. Our windows had just been repainted since they were painted before we moved in, so 1/3 of the work they did was unnecessary, and now they look much worse than they did before. I could go on, but generally lots and lots of complaints along with absolutely terrible service.
Our upstairs neighbor (also an owner) also hates them and wants to switch, but a rental company owns the top half of the building and seems to be trying to force us in to staying. Basically, this management company is super cheap and the rental company are absolutely trash absentee leaches. (They *may* also have not been paying their part of the VvE fees for a while, but I'm not totally sure I understood everything.)
Unfortunately, I am way out of my depth and can't seem to get much help from google. Can anyone give me some advice about what to read or who to talk to, or are we actually stuck?

Oops, #Terraform datasources cannot contain write-only attributes, which means you cannot use a sensitive value in a secure way when configuring a datasource... I will be quite happy when the Big Sur highway is finally re-opened to end-to-end travel.
(It can be a scary trip, especially southbound, with tall cliffs going up on the inland side and sheer drops into the ocean on the other side.)
It has been said that the Big Sur area has the worst (as in none) cell phone signal in the entire US.
A drive on California highway 1 from Cambria on the south to and through the Mendocino coast on the north is something that is fairly special …

WELL.
We have a newly installed @… version on an old #EndoOf10 laptop.
All user files have been moved across (will require some organisation still, and that alone will be a shock to a GenZ used to just dumping stuff on the cloud - honestly the desktop looked like my parents... 😱 ).
Most important programs are there (I had to explain difference between program and app along the way too).
And overall it's been a pretty positive learning experience for both of us. I have had to compromise on a few things and teenager has a few programs installed that I'd rather not - but let's see this as a gateway out of #BigTech if at all possible...
There will be a few more follow up points I suspect but thanks all for your friendly encouragement and helpful hints so far

There •is• definitely debate about LLMs among folks who have both tech expertise and a level head, and that debate is mostly between:
(1) “If only we could have reasonable conversations about what if anything this tech is actually good for! It could be useful! Curse this hype! Curse this bubble!”
and
(2) “This technology is so toxic we shouldn’t even be considering •any• uses for it”
That’s a •continuum•, and folks (including me) fall in all kinds of complicated places along it. Just note the continuum’s endpoints.
