This one took a smidge more thought as I can't abuse `zip` to rotate 2D sequences. However, just rewrote the rotation as a proc and used that. Instead of `reduce`, it was all `foldl`, and I fought with `char` vs `string` due to some of the processing operations between the normal and cephalopod problem processing.
Overall, definitely a fun solve.

After undergoing the ritual debate of Coopers Hawk or Sharp Shinned Hawk, we’ve unanimously decided this is a Coopers Hawk that swooped down in pursuit of a small bird hiding in a holly bush.
After playing it cool in this nearby tree, the hawk tried diving into the bush (ouch!), landing & coming up from underneath, but could not reach nor flush out its prey.
It then landed on the railing & became aware of us gaping at it from our front window. Rightfully spooked, it flew …

Once I pulled my head out of my ass this wasn't horrible. Part 1 was straightforward, decided to do some set stuff and managed to get it right the first time. Part 2 made my brain hurt a bit because all of the ideas that came to me were very, very slow and memory intensive. Then decided to scrap it and just do what the directions told me to do: count the paths...so I replaced the dumb with a dictionary which was so much better as an idea.

I have a small bucket tucked under a branch between the tree and the wall with a flexible piece of clear tubing running into the tree stand. Now instead of awkwardly laying down and filling the stand, I can just pour water into the bucket, up to the fill line I drew with a sharpie.

The #nim solution looks very similar to the Python one, but that works out well enough as the method works great on both. Didn't check to see if Nim had a `for/else` construction, but a friend threatened me with death if I tried.

Do you have a device with an AMD Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that you actively use? I could use your help testing support for monitoring AMD NPUs in Resources!
I'd really appreciate it if you'd check out the amdxdna-support branch of Resources' GitHub repository and check if NPU utilization correctly shows up in Resources.
You can find more info in this GitHub issue:

Well that’s not good. Was taking advantage of the mild weather to use the 3” chipper/shredder on a bunch of downed branches on the hill in the back yard.
Not ten minutes in and a 2.5” branch jammed it. I had to disassemble half the housing to clear it. Then it still wouldn’t start, upon which time I noticed that the jam must have pushed the moving blade into the housing with force enough to shear off a piece of the housing.
Obviously not safe to continue. Warranty support initia…

Just shared my WezTerm¹ configuration. It’s not very long and mostly just adds a few keyboard shortcuts that I find more ergonomically-pleasing, specifies light/dark themes and improves colour scheme consistency and also, if you use Helix Editor², automatically implements light/dark mode theme changes for it in line with the rest of the terminal.

River scene with a bare deciduous tree branch stretching across the top of the image. The near bank has a gentle snow covered slope, the river is frozen and snow covered, and the far bank is tree lined.

Testing Aurora, the KDE brother of Bluefin, briefly. Switched to the latest branch of course. Interesting and well executed. Too much for me, application wise, nevertheless very nicely done.
PS: Bazaar is a very nice appstore and the Curated section allows Aurora (and thus others) to show their preferred applications. Very neat.

For several reasons I didn't do mountains this weekend. But I enjoyed a nice cozy loop in the vicinity to the #kirchsee.
At this spot I made a quick stop and thought: #silentsunday! Not even wind. Just a lake, view, mountains in the distance and me and my bike.

A serene lakeside scene unfolds under a soft, overcast sky, where the calm water mirrors the muted colors of the clouds and distant mountains. The lake, known as **Kirchsee**, reflects the surrounding landscape like a giant mirror, creating a sense of tranquility and stillness. A lone, weathered branch lies partially submerged in the shallow water near the shore, adding a touch of rustic charm to the scene.

The image captures a cycling route, labeled **"Kirchseerunde"** and **"Edge 530"**, hig…

My takeaways from the bincode situation:
* Assume good intentions (while verifying), never dox (duh).
* Normalize having a non-empty .mailmap in repostiories so that name changes can be done less intrusively without calling attention.
* When doing a full-tree rebase, provide a simple text along with it that gives a filter-branch-or-so command that converts an old history into a bit-identical new one (where the old name/data can sit in a nonspecific regexp).

Finished up Day 11 of Advent of Code and it was definitely easier than Day 10. Nothing fancy and it's pretty fast. Did have to think about how to get part 2 solved, but it was more an implementation issue more than me just smashing keys and hoping a solution fell out.
Solution:

When the executive branch puts their fingers on the scales of justice
and says, ‘I’m going to punish you for your viewpoint,’
everybody in the bar should start heckling.
