Blanched 2.5 pounds (a little over 1kg) of green beans from the garden to freeze. That was today's harvest.

Bolt awake this morning at 6:15am and could NOT get back to sleep. Try as I might to drag my feet through the usual routine, I still found myself at work at 7:45am which is hecka-early; usually I'm rocking up at the office at 9...9:30ish.
So now it's 10 to 10am, and it feels like I've been here for hours and I want to eat my lunch. I have been productive so far, so that's nice, but everything else about this I hate very much.

Today’s bake… a lot went wrong, I was clumsy, I was in a lot of pain, and I burned my hand.
I did have one for lunch and it was good, despite not looking as good as the first batch.
I made these 120g each which is probably too large. I’ll try 100g next time. I also tried an overnight cold ferment, but probably used too much yeast.

Wow, that was absolutely dreadful! From the moment I first turned it on until I had a fully functional setup with all the updates, settings, and necessary programs—and their configuration—it took over FIVE HOURS on Windows 11! With a short break for lunch.

Plans for today: husband and I will go for our first proper walk in about 3 weeks. Okay, so we're going to make it a smallish one because it's been quite a while. We have been on the go with the wee one all day.
We took him to hungry jacks for lunch and playground (son is working through to the wee hours).
Then we took him to a park with lots of play equipment.
Then we organised a video call with his mother for mother's day.

I had such a good day today...
I got myself and the wee one dressed and organised early without any drama (preschool day).
Had a late breakfast meeting in Civic that seemed to go well.
Went to the theatre and saw a fabulous matinee performance.
Had lunch afterwards with theatre friend.
Bought a great handbag - on special.
Had a meeting with CYF that seemed somewhat positive(?).

I'm old-fashioned. When folks visit my home, I offer THEM a cup of coffee. Like any peasant, I hope they refuse, three times 😅
I'm not denoucing the practice, only that the etiquette bugs me, and not sure of a fix. If this is truly Gift Economy, we only require an opportunity to "return the favour", not an upfront "hey, yeah you, stranger, take this gift but FIRST, you got any for me?"

Something that I learned while working in the third ward is that there are a lot of ways to get into #Summerfest between noon and 3pm or 4pm but you can also get a stamp to come back through the gate. So, go get in for free with a non-perishable food item over lunch, listen to music for 20 minutes, get your hand stamped on the way back to the office and then go listen to more music after work.
