Went to Culver’s for lunch yesterday, sat in a booth, and the server had a difficult time finding us to deliver our order.

Just woke up from a nap after lunch. I dreamt our heroine was on the run from the galactic police for a discrepancy surrounding dubious business expense claims in her tax return and finds herself running a popular bar in a humanoid community amongst the gut flora and fauna of a giant space faring lizard fish thing amongst a school or flock of these things. I don't remember much else other than its title had to be `June Callwood Cheats On Her Taxes` for some reason.

Back in 1991 or so, during renovations, they took down a wall in the Engineering Building and discovered a rack of Sun servers happily doing their job, apparently so well, at some point they were walled up with drywall!
I do remember uptimes in the hundreds, even thousands of days, but it's fuzzy. Lately having more than a month without kernel upgrades seems rare, and browsers rarely last a month.

Jurors aren't paid: they get travel (not much, by definition they're local) and subsistence (again, not much — a pub lunch per day each, at most). Selecting jurors is just a lottery system, so very easily automated. Deal with jurors being objected to, or pleading excuses, can be dealt with by the automated system in advance.
No-shows on the day can be dealt with by inviting a percentage of extra jurors.

Back and leg pain was terrible from around 4am to 11am but I managed to get moving after that and doing some kitchen work helps distract me from the pain... I still feel a little dizzy, but whatever.
So I am attempting a "tavern style" pizza today, the "other" Chicago style, a thin, cracker crust. (Also St. Louis or Milwaukee style to some folks.)
I'll report back on my results after lunch, unless I fall asleep again from the medication.

Every so often I'm reminded how bloody difficult it is to come and live in this country.
We were due an electrician to visit today but earlier he messaged my wife to say he couldn't make it and could he instead come "around tea time tomorrow".
My wife, who did not grow up in this country, asked me "when is tea time?" to which I replied "probably about 4-ish".
So then she said "But I thought tea time meant lunch time" and then the conversation went that although dinner time might mean lunch time and supper time might mean dinner time, tea time is always tea time even though it's highly unlikely anyone would be drinking tea. Unless it's afternoon tea which can be at any time but is definitely not tea time.

Took a few minutes over lunch to iron out the last of the bugs in the happy path of PCIe link training.
There's no timeouts or fallback if there's problems but if the other side is happy, it will train up to L0 and then sit there ignoring all incoming traffic.

I finally got out to a coffee shop with my iPad and Magic Keyboard, and am using this time to respond to emails.
The coffee shop seemed very happy with me buying a coffee and sitting here without restriction. So, that’s what I am doing.
Although they have free Wi-fi here, I am tethering to my phone… feels safer, although I guess I could VPN 🤔
I’m also meeting @… here for lunch, so that will be nice.
Best of all, I can access my NAS remotely, so I have everything I need 😅
