They’re lovely to look at, but I learnt whilst living in the Blue Mountains that many locals despise them as invasive weeds.
I frequently saw agapanthus burnt or with their heads cut off, and more than once someone had swerved offroad to drive their car through a garden bed and take a few of them out.

IANAP (I am not a paleontologist), but, this putative ammonite fossil, for sale in a shop in New Mexico, seems manipulated and not quite authentic.

I kinda like living among lions (mountain lions). I wish we heard (or saw) them more often. We have plenty of deer for them to eat.
(We have had mountain lions come right up to our front door, and we have heard them - they sound like a cross between a human baby crying and a domestic cat.)

My plans to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing were derailed by two days of rain and high winds, so we made a plan B: the Tama lakes track, which has somewhat less exposure but still gets up over 1400m. We’re lucky we didn’t try Tongariro given how tough the conditions were at Tama lakes – driving snow and winds on the ridge. But we were rewarded with good views and improving weather on the return trip. #hiking

My #silentsunday... Do you know that? You're lazy but you also know that you want some physical activity?
The weather wasn't motivating either. But I finally did one of my standard loops. It was indeed silent as there were almost no people out today.
No more than an occasional "hi". Besides that, no talking, nothing but a fox 🦊 in the distance on a field.

I didn't go to the mountains today but went for a little bike ride. In the shade it was a bit icy. This way, even boring forest roads are a bit technical. 😊
Liked it! I'm just wondering if I should try broader tires for these conditions 🤔. On the other hand, I didn't have any issues.

When I was walking down from the mountains recently I noticed the frost on the trees and branches -- and some single leafs that were still around.
I really liked this extra touch of color in the grey surrounding. And that it's just a little detail on the huge mountain.

For today's #silentsunday I am thinking about wether I want to go to this place and take a similar photo (just now in winter) ... OR go to the place seen in the photo. 🤔
I might also have to check the nature & wildlife protection zones first.
