Holy Crap. Today's ride home was insane. My chain came off, had to pull over to fix it, simple, no issue. But then as I had to wait at a stoplight this pickup truck took off when the light turned green and these two bins slide right out the back onto the road! As the bins hit a box of nails explodes and these little nails with orange discs fly everywhere. (Stock photo included because it was such chaos I did not get a photo.)

Butterflies -- in total five red admirals (although I didn't get all of them into one photo), one small tortoiseshell, and two cabbage whites -- feeding on the same field thistle on my croft in yesterday's sunshine. I'd like to pretend this was a common sight, but it's not; still, it is a comfort that one can still occasionally see this many butterflies active at the same time.
There were also two dragonflies around, but I failed to photograph either.

And a nice little 'told you so' moment for yours truly :)
In the first half of this year, renewables produced more electricity globally than coal, for the first time.
And 2025 is the date I predicted for this to happen, back in 2016, in a blog post for Ecofys! The score was 23%-40% at the time, with most of the renewables share still coming from hydro, and the prediction was less than obvious.

Der aktuelle Höchststand liegt bei 1175419 registrierten Anlagen.
Unplausible Inbetriebnahmedaten von 1900 bis 2017 wurden durch das Registrierungsdatum der

Liniendiagramm zur kumulierten Anzahl an Balkonkraftwerken in Deutschland von 2018 bis 08.11.2025. Die Linie verläuft bis 2021 fast waagrecht und steigt ab 2022 zunehmend steil an. Ab 2023 zeigt sich ein starker Zuwachs, besonders deutlich ab 2024. Der aktuelle Höchststand liegt bei 1175419 registrierten Anlagen. Die Kurve deutet auf einen anhaltenden Boom hin.

I want to be optimistic although I fear what Israel and Netanyahu’s government will do to sabotage it.
